Can the wd coupon be used multiple times? I need two drives
Just go and order 2 of them in the same order - it's double coupon

Which setup is better for NAS? One 8TB or Two 4TB?
You'll want multiple drives if you're planning on using raid. If one drive fails you'll still be ok.

14TB for $199 vs 8TB $155. I have 4 x 14TB scheduled for pickup. Which one do you prefer?
Those 14TB are not NAS drives

Traded in an old Seagate external drive for a 15% off coupon.
Got the WD drive for 15% off. ($132.59).

I idiotically forgot to have the rep order two in the same order so I had to go back and repeat the process for a 2nd drive. Not a big deal but I could have avoided trading in another drive. Oh well.

Thanks to the person who mentioned the trade in program!!

Hey, thanks for sharing this! If you don't mind me asking --> did you order in store?? I picked up an SN850 SSD and used the 15% coupon (ordered online for in-store pickup (was not available in any stores) then returned and repurchased using the coupon). I managed to get another 15% coupon, but these WD 8TB drives are online only (a few stores 30mins from me only have one drive available).

Did you go to the store and buy the drives in-store, or go to the store and place an order for either store pickup or home delivery?

I went into the store and had the customer service agent order it for pick Up at another store but she also gave me the option of shipping to home. the store I was at didn't have the drives.

Don't I feel dumb. I ordered a Barracuda Compute 8TB for my Unraid parity drive, then found out it's a SMR drive. Paid $169 for it too. This is way better.

Not sure I want to support WD after that SMR fiasco.

Depends on your goals and data usage. In general though if you're doing NAS you probably have multiple bays and so why not use that to a better potential. If you want some resilience to your system you could do a RAID 1 with two 4TBs or why not two 8TBs? In that case you'd have 4TB and 8TB respectively. If you have a second NAS you could mirror those NASs then you might want to do a RAID 0, so with two 4TBs you'd have about 8 TB, with two 8TBs you'd have about 16TBs.

Don't forget you'll want to backup important data. Build in a resilient, robust system, with some redundancy and backups though. Don't just put all your eggs in one basket and put it all on one NAS either RAID 0 or 1.

Oh man, that's amazing, thanks for replying. I guess all I need to do now if find out if the coupon will apply to more than one WD drive, or just one of them. The coupon wording seems to suggest it's valid on one item. So I guess I'll find out tonight if I can apply it to 3x drives or only 1x.

If the latter, I guess I'll be going back for another coupon (unfortunately will need to drive another ~20 minutes in order to get another coupon since my local store doesn't hand them out).

Sh!t, that's a good point... Honestly hadn't thought about that. I already have 7 WD drives. And what they did was pretty disgusting with CMR vs. SMR. But I also question whether it even makes a difference? For example I used to avoid shopping at Walmart at ALL costs. For years I never set foot in there. Then, over time, I "realized" that it's not the STORE that's the problem. It's the society + laws + culture that allow for massive corporations to f*ck people over and do disgusting sh*t. In other countries (which have more overall respect and protection for workers and individuals) there are laws that prevent corporations from screwing people to a greater extent. With serious fines to match, not the slap on the wrist that we like to give out here. In the US, my individual avoidance of Walmart (or WD) changes nothing at all. Now if we vote, change laws, etc. then a company like WD might be handed a massive fine in the form of some % of their gross profit for pulling off the disgusting, disingenuous move they did.

would you have able to use the coupon on the 2nd drive? I attempted to use the recycle coupon to back order the 2nd drive, and the cashier said it was only going to apply to the first drive, and not the second. Planning on going back tomorrow to recycle another drive and pick up another drive.

What coupon is everyone talking about?

I ordered 3 of these from WD yesterday. It says 2 day shipping but I have a feeling it's going to take a week for them to actually ship them. My local Best Buy just got them in stock. Can you cancel an order from Western Digital?
