Nespresso has done a really poor job at having deals on just coffee. You can tell they have turned over staff. It must be me, I do not drink enough coffee to get any discount. They also limit the promo codes per order to just one, gone of the days of stacking. :'-(

Nespresso operate on the printer/toner business model. Offer "deals" on the machines on a relatively consistent basis, but never discount the pods. Also, on a per pound basis, the pods are a total rip-off.



Personally, I like the convenience and also have a very high end machine (Latissima Pro). If it ever kicks the bucket (been going strong for 5-7 years and craftsmanship/build quality, admittedly, seems top notch), I'll probably get a high end super automatic and just grind my own beans.

Vertuo is the worst: expensive pods and disgustingly thick foam topped coffee.
Once you finish the coffee, you're left with a crap ton of foam in the cup.
Oddest coffee ever.

I am kinda in the same boat. I have a Breville Barista Express for over 10 years and is still going strong. Some mornings it is just more convenient to use the pod for the first coffee. I would also like to go up the next level in gear but it is a jump. I will probably do the grinder first.

I liked James Hoffmann videos about Nespresso, the seafoam is not crema it is disappointing.

I own a wide range of coffee making equipment from the standard drip to the super automatic by DeLonghi. I own a Nespresso as well and what I noticed is that they are trying to duplicate a café experience at home. They sell a lot of craft drinks and the frother works very well.

I don't think Nespresso is a good workhorse coffee maker, but it is nice when hosting. Having the super automatic machine grumbling to make 8 cups of coffee would be a bit annoying.
