Why the negative Deal Score?
This seems comparable to the recent HP deals in the similar spec/price range and with that other CB site, it's under $350. Appears to have 2 open 2.5" SSD slots for some RAID options too. I understand it's the 10th gen vs 11th gen i5 in the HP, but even with the extra 4GB ram in the HP, not sure the HP is worth the extra $100 for me based on this year's prices.
My use case is a home multi-use server, including Home Assistant.
This should have a x16 PCIe slot, but I don't believe any way to power the GPU. I suppose if you had a board-powered GPU, or rigged up an external PSU, it could work.
Seems like a decent deal to me. This is about equivalent to the Dell T30 server desktops @ $299 we used to get a couple of years ago, but those didn't come with Windows. So the price is comparable.
Would this be a good RAM to go with it? https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-DD...08C4Z69LN/
It's 3200 but can downclock to 3200MHz RAM can downclock to 2933MHz or 2666MHz if system specification only supports 2933MHz or 2666Mhz.
Does any one know if I can add more RAM to it and how many slots it has? This is all I see on the item page-
Watch all your applications perform at their fullest with features including memory of up to 12GB DDR4, at 2666 MHz.
Per this, it has 2 slots & it seems like it supports 2666 MHz. I don't know about the downclocking. So, to be on the safe side; I will go with the- https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-DD...08C56KXQJ/
Does anybody know if software that work with Windows 10 will work with Windows 11?
It if works with Windows 10, it will most likely work with Windows 11 now, if not shortly in the future. However, I don't see the rush to go to Windows 11. It just came out and could use a few months of polishing. Windows 10 is supported through 2025, and you can upgrade to 11 for free at anytime.
