This might be a good deal, might not be, but either way you should know this post is an ad made by one of the site admins (check the user's history and note the percentage of "deals" that happen to always be to Adorama.

Slickdeals definitely has a relationship with Adorama. With that said, these deal threads are the only way to get these deals from Adorama. If you go directly to the adorama website and find these sets, the price is much higher.

I don't get the gimmick of the "Walnut" look.. Piano black, flat white..etc... looks more classy.
One, it's not even close of being real walnut and second even real walnut looks like the walls in mobile homes.

I'm assuming you're talking about wifi for the receiver. No, you don't need it. Mine doesn't have wifi, and it works just fine. My guess is that wifi would let you connect to the home network, and lets you control the receiver with Alexa/Google Assistant...Most recent receivers have 5.1 to 9.1 channel setup, optical and HDMI. I don't need any more features than just the basics listed above. To turn it into a "smart" device, I use Logitech Harmony (universal remote, can be controlled by a smartphone) to control it, and the TV.
Yea I'm just trying to figure out the features. On one hand I don't want to be buying another receiver for some time.... like years. And on the other, I don't want to spend a ton of money. Hard to justify in some ways but the timing is good bc I am finishing my basement. I'd buy something used or refurbished if I could. I just think tech changes so fast with this stuff it's going to replaced in a few years anyway. Then there's atmos ready and maybe I want that, etc etc lol

In deph look and review of the speakers. Basically he says they're cheap speakers. Probably not worth anymore than the "deal" price. I think these speakers are probably supposed to sell around this price to begin with and the price drop is just a gimmick. They look like quality speakers, but from I've heard, they're not.

That's the first negative review I have seen. Thanks for posting. I for one have seen these listed and have been following them so I know they are not this crazy advertised Slashdown in price. I am buying for the bang for the buck which I haven't seen anything comparable for the price. I'm no audiophile but I know I'm not satisfied with my sonos beam. This is something I can dip my toes in at a reasonable price. Do you have any other suggestions?

Noob here,

How does this compare to a 5.1 set full of JBL LSR 305 speakers? I'm wondering if this would be an upgrade? I'm disappointed with my rear channels as they don't pump out as much sound as I thought considering they are powered.

Is this a better deal than the Klipsch R-26FA Dolby Atmos Floorstanding Speakers for $500 at Adorama? I've also been considering Klipsch The Fives (Costco), but not sure if I'm sacrificing too much for the convenience of not needing to have a receiver.

I don't know anything about audio, but my wife likes to karaoke and we've been using those 100W portable (wheelable) rockers from Costco (which are better than my $200 soundbar).
Hey, not sure if anyone replied.
I'd say to do some research with soundandvisionmag.com S&V Sound and Vision and
Wired.com

Jamo has a good enough repuatiation in the entry level market. Klipsch I would say is like a gateway drug. Unless you're talking about their heresy line. Either way, you can't really go wrong. The Klipsch horn tweeter sound is known to be kind of polarizing amongst listeners.

The best advice is to DEMO in person (your room would be absolute best) and then pick one. Go to Costco and listen to some Klipsch speakers and see what you like. Go to BB Magnolia if you can find one and do some listening tests. Let your ears tell you what to pick. Good luck!

I bought this set a few months ago with the larger S803 surround speakers and have zero regrets. I see a lot of people bashing these as cheap wannabee Klipsch speakers, but they sound nothing like Klipsch. I know because I've owned larger Klipsch towers in the recent past and these speakers sound a lot more refined with better detail and bass that sounds much tighter. You can argue about the speaker construction I guess, but these seem as solid as any theater system I've seen even costing 3X as much. They all are MDF construction with some sort of vinyl covering - so you just choose your poison as to what color you want. I purchased the black version and think they look classy and understated, blending into my room background seamlessly.

YouTube has lots of videos on various components represented in this system, so do yourself a favor and look at a few if you're on the fence. Andrew Robinson's YouTube channel has a couple of reviews and he's been a huge fan of these speakers. Don't know why they've been discounted so drastically this past year - maybe they are being pushed out for a newer product line coming soon, but here's an opportunity to own a theater speaker system that sounds really good, has a minimalist style and won't break the bank. I don't think you'll find comparable quality in a theater system that will beat this at this price point. BTW, the matching top firing Atmos speakers are really the icing on the cake with this if you can track a set down.

i got a slightly better deal than this. my surround was S 803..
Surrounds don't really matter though. Now if you want to use them for something else the 803 is better.

What would be a better deal in those price range then?

That's the 807's so not a in depth review of these.

I just got this set with the 803 surrounds. Personally I think they sound pretty good. Wasn't all that impressed with the center channel but plan to upgrade that. The 809 towers seem like a killer value for the money.

I got the walnut because that is what they had in stock at the time. I was worried that it would look cheap in that color, but boy was I wrong. These look very classy.
Well...this ones don't look bad.....appears as if they're mainly flat black with walnut trim.
I was thinking of this [cnet.com]

There are some decent looking Walnut speakers but again not my thing...

I bought this same set with 803 surrounds for use in my son's 20x20 bedroom. I have a pretty good ear and would say that is sounds amazing for that price. We bought the atmos modules that sit on top as well. If you're coming from a sound bar you'll be blown away.

How does these compare to a set of Pioneer Andrew Jones set? Frys used to carry them and on sale regularly.
Very different sound signature. These are made by the company that owns Klipsch and have a fairly high sensitivity. They'll be much easier to drive than the AJ speakers. Much like the AJ's, though, the center channel here will be your weakest link. Unfortunately they don't pair similarly specced center channel speakers with these sets. Smaller drivers and I think you'll be tweaking your channel levels to compensate. These will have a slight smile or V type sound profile. So expect slight bumps to the bass and treble.

If I had to choose, I'd take these over the AJ's, but that's super super subjective. Audio can be a deep rabbit hole to go down. At the end of the day if you have the AJ's and you enjoy what you hear, there's just not any reason to change. If you feel like you're missing something with the AJ's, or feel like they're too warm (these will be slightly bright) then these are a solid replacement. Both are entry level systems.
