Already have a pneumatic 18 g brad nailer, debating whether to get a cordless one. Only going to be using the nailer occasionally, so not sure I want to spend the extra money for a cordless.

2Ah battery and free shipping makes the price very appealing. I bought it, but have been looking at a purchase for a couple months. HD sells the bare tool for $169. Tools Dir I think sells the bare tool blem currently for $119 and a 2Ah battery for $21.

The numbers work if this tool was on your list of wants.

Are you sure about LSA applying to this kit? Thinking about switching out my Ryobi nailers as these become available, but one of the main appeals of Ridgid (besides the fact that I have a ton of their batteries and most of my tools are Ridgid) is the LSA. factory blemished from DTO does qualify for LSA i've bought quite a few things from them just make sure you register it

Just tried this gun last week, lots of no fire issues. Checked no jams , adjusted tension, battery was 3/4 on a 4.0 battery. Just randomly start working again. Happened twice. It's also very top heavy. I'll wait for the Milwaukee to get under 200$

This is my second most favorite Ridgid tool I own. Well actually this is the new and hopefully improved version. It is so worth it for the simple job. Before this thing there is no way I was going to put that stupid piece of trim that came off the wall. I wasn't going to haul in a compressor, plug in the hose, wait for compressor to fill, attach tool, hope the compressor doesn't wake any little sleeping humans, etc.

I've only shot it about 75 times and I did have one dry fire, but that is about the same I get with pneumatic.

This is $229 at Home Depot, so it is almost 40% off.

The one you linked to is 23 gauge pin nailer, which is different. I think 18 gauge is the sweet spot for a battery operated tool like this. I'm not going to build a whole house with this tool. I just use it for repairs and 18 gauge has the right strength but is easy to cover with putty and paint if needed. But it comes down to what power tool ecosystem you are in too. If you already have Ridgid then I'd say this.

If I didn't already have so many Ridgid tools, I'd probably go for the Milwaukee collection myself. Although that LSA warranty is hard to beat.

Thanks I didn't notice the gauge difference. I have a Milwaukee power drill with two of the m12 batteries. Was thinking a cordless nailer would be good to have around if I want to do some trim, etc.

I bought this tool during a previous deal. I don't use it a lot, but when I need it, it's really great to have around. I've pinned trim, cedar panelling, and other home improvement uses. It's also nice to temporarily pin something together so you can do something more permanent to hold it together (bigger screws/nails). It's like having an extra set of hands without the hassle of compressor and hose setup hurdles.

I also own the 16 gauge trim nailer and it had to go in for repair since something failed in the "hyperdrive" pneumatic system - so it was sinking nails 1/2 way, randomly (pretty common issue from what I hear, unfortunately). Home Depot did the repair under LSA and it came back working fine after a couple of weeks.

Suggestions? Looking at this to replace pneumatic and have a ton of baseboard to do. Can I get away with the brad nailer or should I find a finish nailer deal?
