I've gone through 3 of these, so my experience hasn't been as good as OP's. The reason I went through 3 instead of 1 is because the keyboard was probably the best ergonomic and quiet one out there (if not the only one at the time). All the other ergonomic keyboards were loud and clacky using older style keys instead of chiclet. Over time the keyboards would stop holding a connection and basically became large flat paperweights. Also, my FN keys would stick sometimes, the esc key is too small, and I prefer a 2-row layout for insert/home/pgup/etc. I never used the mouse as I found it to be too bulbous for my liking.

Now there are alternatives out there, and I have moved on. I'm now using a Logitech K860. The layout is slightly off from the MS one, and it took me a week or so to be fully comfortable with it. I personally like the keypad attached, but some may not. It's more expensive than the MS one, but so far (1.5 yr) it has been solid for me.

I'm a programmer, so my use might differ from yours.

Edit: I should mention that I went through 3 at both work and home over 8 or so years, so I do feel like I got my money's worth.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been wanting to get one of these especially because of the separated number pad. In 4 one.

Anyone know how this compares to the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000? Better? Similar?

I love the keyboard and have had no real issues however, the mouse has been a huge headache. I constantly get disconnects, the scroll wheel will randomly stop working (power on/off fixes) and worst of all is how fast it eats through two AA batteries. I got fed up and spiked it on the ground and that's that. I tried to get support on it and it was laughably bad.

Adding another datapoint: Have been using this exact setup for work, for just over a year. I have had wonky issues in the past with the wireless usb dongle (maybe once every couple of months that requires re-seating the dongle) which can be annoying. I changed power management settings to NOT let Windows put those to sleep and it has helped immensely.

The mouse and keyboard themselves are GREAT ergonomically.

I have this keyboard. It stinks that the number pad is not attached. You also need to figure out how to disable power saving on the usb device which is the keyboard or else it will go into low power mode and the first key you tap will never come up. Other than those two points, it's a great keyboard.

Turn off power saving on the usb device and this problem will be fixed.
