That's good, but I can tell you I'm definitely not alone in having problems with these bulbs.
I just did mine last week, before the update the lights worked 1 out of 3 times. Now the lights work flawlessly, one is a little slower to respond but it's only like 1/2 a second slower.
That being said the RGB led tends to have high CRI by default, which is one good reason for them.

I think Title 20 is the one that mandates cri. But not sure if that comes in on selling leds or new builds or something else.

Can you elaborate on this. I have the c by GEs and they are horrible
I did a factory reset on the bulbs, then I added them into the c by GE app and updated the firmware after I was done with that I factory reset them again and added them into my Google home and I haven't had an issue since.
Hotspot on phone?
Only complaint is that c by GE doesn't support local sunset scheduling. I love the Kasa (TP-link) bulbs for that.
