It was a serious question. If I never have a need to drill bricks, stone, etc. and have only used my current drill for wood, is there a disadvantage to only having a hammer drill? My regular drill is mainly used to drill pilot holes, mix paint, etc. I also mostly use my impact for everything else.
Ok so you have a need to drill through just wood. Your original question was if there was actually that many people out there that needs a hammer drill functionality. I still would say yes and that makes this deal very solid. And again, the hammer drill setting can be turned off, which will then make the tool a drill/driver instead. Slightly heavier and longer than just a standalone drill/driver, but the added hammer benefit outweighs that for me. And honestly, 20V tools can be considered overpowered/heavy for just drilling through wood. 12V dewalt Extreme or MW Fuel can do that job with ease and is much lighter. Clearly its a preference thing, but hammer drills do have an audience. Coming from a ridgid 18v hammer and 12v MW Fuel hammer owner, this deal is a good one for dewalts.

Not to mention how masonry eats through bits used on a regular drill. My hammer drill has paid for itself with the savings from bits and the reduction in time.

Bought this back in 2014, minus the flashlight for $234. I would say it's been a great investment as I took it to the other side of the globe in Asia to work on my other home which is made of cement. The hammer drill made my job easier drilling into concrete, but my titanium bits became dull after a couple weeks of use and had to replace. The batteries last forever and only had to charge a couple of times. Thinking of buying and leaving it there so I don't need to pack in my suitcase.

What is the better line? XR Max or Atomic?
If your doing light work around the house go with the atomic it's lighter can fit into tighter spaces. If your serious diyer then go with XR Max otherwise your waist of your money.

Also get the drills with the setting on the bottom if you don't drill much it helps to not over torque screws. Like dummy proof

The light is not a tool, so this isn't a real 3 tool set. How much better is the XR vs the standard max? Home depot had the drill, impact driver, and circular saw for $199.

The Home Depot set you're referring to does not have the same tools. Not even close to the same…

Despite what people have said, the XR isn't necessarily more powerful than the atomic line.

Same torque and weight. The atomic just has a smaller form factor. They're two separate product lines Dewalt has, and sometimes the atomic version is just as or more powerful than the XR equivalent.

Found this. This seems like a good deal as well https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-P...1002097720
Showing OOS. What is Power Detect? I have these tools from a few years ago and were not labelled such.

Dewalt has about 3 different lines of tools that vary in performance and technology. This is the dewalt XR line. You might to look up it for more details. I am sure someone in community might have more details on this.

You might want to check near by locations. It was OOS in my default store. I am still seeing in stock in select area NY.

Fine if you're near a store but I won't order from Lowe's again. Received a dewalt oscillating tool last Friday that was delivered damaged and the only option they wanted to give me was to return/exchange it in person to a store. That store is 60 miles away from me. Talked to them again and complained after talking to the local store and finally got them to let me ship it back, but I still have to take it to a FedEx location and have them print the label out. I don't know if it's because of the batteries or what, but it's a PIA for a tool that got to me damaged.
