Reviews say it has a very loud fan that is always running. Mine is going in the garage with other loud equipment so no big deal for me. Thanks for the post.

Got one for the wife's desktop, I'll probably swap the fan for a noctua.

Don't do it. The fan is ridiculous and when it dies, the UPS can die with it, in a cloud of electrical burning toxic smoke. It took us 45 minutes for the fire department to find this as the culprit. Alarms going off everywhere. It melted the carpet as a parting gift and Tripp said we could return it, but only by trackable shipping. That would cost half of the price at least. Oh and they wanted a credit card number in case the unit wasn't defective and they would charge us for the replacement. It shuts off under battery load if it gets too hot… before it catches on fire.

equipment coverage for any ups is nothing but a marketing ploy.

What an awful story. Do you have any idea what caused it to catch fire? Just a power surge? How long did you have it before that happened? Did you notice fan issues beforehand?
Of course, but this was a basic warranty issue, not a surge.
still they make you jump through so many hoops like wanting a cc number and all that shit. they know people wont do that and just buy a new one, if that.

Thank you in advance
The fire investigator said it clearly overheated under battery? load, but we still had regular power. His only guess was some self test mode failed and left it under load with no fan. All i had plugged into it was a weather radio, the cordless phone charger, and a desk lamp with a Hue bulb in it. All survived. The rug didn't and the smell came back whenever it got muggy. Trip's customer service blows. They didn't care.

These thing eat through battery very fast. I work as a contractor IT and replacing battery for these thing was constant. The unit itself wont work unless there is a battery.
