Local HVAC made the right call. Scene safety is paramount, and the FD is better-equipped to measure gas concentrations, find the source, and to have the proper gear on-hand in case things go up in flames. Though most aren't officially labeled as one, technically any gas leak is a HAZMAT incident. No way is that part of an HVAC tech's job description. laugh out loud

Thoughts on why there so many negative 'doesn't detect gas' reviews on Amazon? Interested in this but holding off because of these reviews.

I had one of these. It wouldn't go off even when placed right at the stove while it's spewing gas.

I get it, but it was frustrating that we couldn't even smell it. These things are sensitive!
