Can anyone comment on the sound of this speaker vs the Harman Kardon go play? I can't get my wife to leave my HK alone lol.
This thing sounds great (you need to download the soundcore app and run custom EQ settings though). Ill share mine the next time I'm connected to it.

I got the one from Walmart (Select pro) for $50 - $10 coupon totaling $40+tax. Can someone suggest if the titanium drivers are worth the extra $$? I can return the Walmart one if there's significant difference. Thanks!
Which coupon did you use?? I bought two speakers but i didnt use the coupon. I used WOWFRESH coupon it only worked with along with $100 total and that too with groceries.

Same frequency is listed for the Select Pro on the Walmart website.
Yeah same frequency range but different driver materials. The Motion Boom has titanium drivers which should in theory sound a little crisper on the highs. I think I'll probably just stick to the Select Pro though. I actually like the lights.

I think one of the coupons worked for instore pickup but I didn't want to go in. One of them was for paypal but I couldn't get it to work with my paypal payment. I ran through every code I could find and couldn't get it down to $40 but so many people did and it's confusing how.

How does this stack up against the Anker soundcore that's also ipx7 waterproof with fancy lights at Walmart for $50?
I don't know how it stacks up against the select pro but I bought the select pro and it's amazing. I'm guessing the titanium cones are better and will last longer. Still for 30 more I'm good.

Would this work well to mount on a golf cart?

Just FYI, I got the Soundcore Motion+ from Amazon for $85. I know it's a different price range but for $10 more, it sounds way better with tweeters. It's not as durable but I can attest that it does stereo and has no noticeable delay when watching YouTube on iPhone. The $40 Motion Selects were horrible, no stereo, not bad but not enough treble, and too much sound delay on YouTube with iPhone.

Edit: While buying speakers, I've learned something important. It's almost like buying a monitor or TV. The dynamic range is important (whites to black-level). If the speaker has well-balanced treble, it actually makes up for the lack of bass because the range of sound frequencies is greater. In the case of the Motion Select Pro, the trebles were simply not there but the bass covered for that missing range. Hope the Motion Boom has a wider range with the titanium drivers. It lacks the tweeters though. Get the Motion+ for that.

Been watching the Motion Boom for over six months for a return to pre-covid prices, and at ~$70 it's frankly the best value out there right now.

Listening to the Boom right now - out of the box it's very bass forward, muddy mid and high range but tweaking the EQ allowed the mid/upper ranges to poke through with decent clarity. It's a little monster when setup correctly, at least when compared within Bluetooth speakers.

My one piece of advice is if you're any sort of audiophile or appreciate balanced audio, use the EQ and don't be tempted to crank the 80-150hz range, there is already bass aplenty. Outdoors or party settings may differ. "Bass Up" is just a gimmick that over boosts the 80hz range way too much. Soundstage is quite narrow, but fine for what it is. It uses the SBC codec, as do most speakers in its class (excepting the Motion+ which does AptX), so don't bother pushing bitrates higher than ~340 kbps and expect magic - it's still a Bluetooth speaker.

Also got the Soundcore Select Pro from the Walmart sale prior to getting the Boom. Don't even need to open the box after listening to the Boom, and will be returned. For $20 more it's worth the peace of mind to have the superior product, even if slightly. If pairing three plus speakers in mono is your thing, I guess that's one advantage of the Select Pro, but at that point do yourself a favor and get some real speakers.

For what it's worth, check out Alan Ross Reviews on the Youtube for frequency/db/loudness analysis of the Boom, Motion+ etc. Sadly I was unable to find any similar tests on the Select Pro for actual comparisons. He's a nut, but the data is good.

If you're on the fence, just pull the trigger, you'll be happy you did.

My quick initial EQ settings will probably change, but may be helpful for owners out there. Experiment till you get a sound profile that works for you. Good hunting and enjoy.

I did a comparison of the Motion Boom vs. the Motion+ on my youtube channel about a year ago. Check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYhMVMszE8c

Happy to assist. The Motion+ is fairly different in its frequency response. As a basic, general rule, one would want to EQ a speaker to smooth out deficient frequency peaks/dips to reach a flat response. Then tweak to suit your preferences and needs of the audio. Example - I prefer a few db more under 100hz for bass friendly music or older less well produced albums to add fullness. Other times, an almost flat response for critical listening sessions.

Boring preamble aside, the Motion+ needs a fair amount of EQ to level out. I've shamelessly ripped a couple pictures from Alan Ross to illustrate this, as attached. For the frequency response chart, a few notes:

Top line is "My EQ". Note peak at 80hz is preference while still retaining a fairly flat rang. 8khz +6db may be slightly harsh to the ear even if flat, dial back as desired. Mid line is Flat with 80hz +3db. Bottom is Flat 80hz 0db.

Give it a whirl or not. Most important thing is what sounds good to you, even if it's not "technically" the purest representation of the audio.

Sound core motion boom EQ:
+5 +3 0 -6 -5 -1 +2 +4 +6

This gives it a very JBL or HK soundstage.
