How would this laptop compare with the Deal from Costco, MSI GE76 Raider laptop? Using the laptop for my Oculus VR.
It's better, because I won't get headstomped if I bust it out at a work meeting.

Tempting, but Lenovo's support is abysmal to say the least.

OP's link is bad.

Click link… scroll down to where it says "System Specs"… to the right it says "View All Models"… and the one OP listed is on the bottom right. Click "See More" under each model to check the specs.

Deal is okay, but I paid $1109 over the weekend for the T14s:

- Ryzen 7 Pro 5850u
- 32gb LPDDR4X 4266MHz
- 14.0" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, touchscreen with Privacy Guard, 500 nits
- .4lbs lighter because carbon fiber, magnesium alloy, aluminum.

**T14 above is plastic and magnesium alloy. (Heavier and thicker).

T14 does have a slot to upgrade ram as well.
Showing $1749 now and you only paid $1100!!!

Haven't been watching Thinkpad line, I'm not seeing an option for AMD powered T15 gen 2, am I missing something?
Because they didn't release that model. It's only T14 and T14s. T15 G2 is Intel 11th gen only.

How does DDR RAM perform in dual channel with mismatched capacity DIMMS (8gb + 16gb)? DDR is a bottleneck for iGPU.

Our government has backdoors to almost everything. Although, we have yet to know any vulnerabilities with TPM on these laptops, since our own government uses it themselves!

beware of the Trackpoint randomly stopping bug that impacts this laptop model (and many other thinkpads, including my p14s G2 ) -- where the trackpoint (red dot) will stop working without notice along with the mouse buttons above the trackpad.

See thread: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Thin...438?page=1 -- this has been unresolved by lenovo for 11+ months

there is a community developed solution for the trackpoint issue ( https://broken-trackpoint.com ) but it is a bandaid fix.

Love the name Trusted Platform Module. I get so mad with security through obscurity. Come on we should be using "daylight is the best disinfectant" method of security.

all seriousness, CCP cannot do shit to you, where as 3 letter agency can (if you live in the US)
and of course you would do the opposite if you live elsewhere, if you got things to hide.

Is this a good deal? Can I use this for virtualization?
Perfect fit for that, plenty of RAM, tons of cores.

Depends upon what resolution and how demanding your projects are. For 1080p editing with basic filters and settings, yes, it will be okay. But anything serious, get something with a dedicated GPU. Even a lowest end GPU like GTX 1650 can boost the performance by a great margin over integrated graphics.
what i find interesting is that when this hardware get put in a bigger volume and advertised as "gaming PC", then all of a sudden the lack of dedicated GPU is no longer a concern and those boxes are like second coming of jesus.

newsflash, the igpu on the 95900h, the so called gaming PC, are exactly the same as one found in 5850U, they are all RX Vega 8...

apparently the world "gaming" is like vtec sticker, magically boot the graphic power by 50%.
