Quote from Jd0g4 :
Pardon my ignorance, but what's the difference between this and just the regular Pandemic board game? I have that and my family loves it so I'm just wondering if this offers more content.
The regular Pandemic board game is like any other board game. It is fun and you can play through it as many times as you like with nothing changing other than the basic randomness of the game as it was designed. Pandemic Legacy is different in that each time you play the game, you will be instructed to permanently alter the game. Sometimes you will tear up cards or mark on the board. Sometimes you'll open up packages which contain new player pieces or new events that happen. The very first time you play Legacy, it is essentially the same as the regular Pandemic game. But from that point forward, every game you play will be completely different. There is a story line which has really interesting surprises that you will discover along the way. Your mission will change periodically (i.e. you are not always just trying to cure diseases).

You are advised to choose a group of people to play this game with, and always play it with the same people because you need to maintain the same player count and you don't want to spoil surprises for someone who hasn't played along with you at the same time. I played through the entire game 2 player with just me and my husband. We loved it. A friend of mine played it 4 player and also loved it. If you do exceptionally well, you will complete the game after 12 playthroughs. If you do really poorly it will take you 24 playthroughs, but for most people it is somewhere in-between. I believe it took my husband and I 14 plays.

If you never played a legacy game before, it is worth playing. Yes you are tearing things and drawing on things but most people get hooked and want to see what happens next. That means people want to play it through. I have a large collection of games and few have made it to the table more than 10 times. So I end up seeing more value from legacy games because they make it to the table until they are completed.
