The thing I hate about using gift cards at Lowes, and maybe Home Depot is the same, god forbid you have to return something, they treat you like a criminal. And the return gift card they issue can only be used by the person returning! In the past, I had my wife return something I purchased with gift card (with receipt), a new gift card issued, but she needs to be there to use (with drivers license). I get that it's probably cut down on fraud, still a pain to honest customers.

Completely agreed with you that it's a PITA. On top of that they also ask for your ID which makes no sense since there's a receipt for the return. And it's not a gift card but a store merchandise card and it can't be use online either

Home Depot pulls that crap too... And God forbid they mess something up at the register. Your store credit, because they "can't give it back on a gift card", is now locked up for 2-3 hours and you can't use it.

The driver license thing is a bit much. My store doesn't do that. However, every time I bought a Lowes gift card deal, I used it as soon as I can with the intention to return so I can get the store credit merchant card. That won't expire. The gift cards that I bought at giftcardmall went to zero balance on me after about 6 months...I had to spent hours on the phone with both Staples and giftcardmall to get my $100 back. Eventually I almost gave up but I sent an email to them that I would contact the guy Jesse Jones (the TV guy, I think he has a show about solving problem or something with business vs consumers - don't remember exactly as it's been 8 years ago)...and all of the sudden Staples refunded me....

Yeah, it's great to save a few $, but just not worth the hassle to me, if I want to save $ and plan on purchasing over say $100, I'll just buy a coupon online.

Now I got 1062 fuel points. I never used kroger fuel points as my costco is near to the kroger.
my hybrids got only 10gal tank. Though 1000points=1dollar off/gal, I can only do it once? ie., 10gal?

How do you get fuel points as a guest. I just used the fuel points and that was a $35 savings.

For some items, yes it is. I have also noticed somethings cheaper at Lowe's compared to HD. I shop at both quite a bit.

10% is not much, but combined with fuel points.... 25+35=60 that is 24%

No, I checked with lowes. They said best would be to open store credit card and buy to get 20% off upto 100 dollars and 5% cb on most lowes. HD has a pro account that can be opened which will give you one time 20 off 200.

So far what I saw is to get egc, get coupon code and apply for purchases. I am not applying for cc. I don't know if any other way to save. But my paint may only need 5 gal is 250 worth of money. If you find anything more please share.
