SiriusXM is offering 3-year and 5-year deals for inactive radios, though I'm not sure of the exact details of which radios qualify. Streaming is included in the plans. The plan is the "XM Music & Entertainment" plan.

The 3-year deal is for $99, while the 5-year deal is $149. Each gets the 21.4% royalty fee plus local sales taxes added. Neither plan automatically renews.

This offer came in the mail. It listed my radio ID and an account #, which I plugged in to https://siriusxm.com/3yeardeal.

Royalty fee is a false advertisement scam. No other online music providers charge it. I run as fast as I can once I hear it.
They want new customers to show growth. Obviously you keep renewing so there's no need to send you a discount offer.
Looking a little further, it appears this offer will only be extended to radios in cars that have not had a subscription for 5 years. So that means that unless your car is a 2015 model or older (considering that most cars with a sirius/xm radio also have a free subscription for a good chunk of time which would have to run out), your car radio is pretty much automatically disqualified from this promotion.

What do we use for the Account number? If the unit is inactive, we don't have an account number.

Turn on the radio and tune to channel 1. It will show you the radio ID number.

This isn't true. I got a flyer in the mail from Sirius XM for my 2012 Accord after I activated the free trial thing. Didn't get one for my 2017 Subaru though.

"Plan does not auto-renew."

Does this mean the rate doesn't renew or the service doesn't renew?

The one reason I've never subscribed is the horror stories in trying to cancel vs. streaming services where you can just push a button and done. So could you pay for this w/ say, a burner Visa GC, and just let the 3 years run out or will they just send me endless bills with late fees?

I received this deal for the 5 year option last week on my 2012 BMW X5 that had a plan expired in 2017. https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...es/biggrin.gif
I have no idea when the plan expired on my 2012 X5. How were you able to check?

Log on to your SiriusXM account and check the status for the inactive radio in your X5.

I have Sirus/XM active on 1 of my cars and then stream from my phone app whenever I am driving one of rhe other cars. Unlimited data on the phones, so all is good.
Unless you're driving in an area without coverage, or you'd rather use the vehicle's built-in system than futzing with your phone.

I just tried dealing with chat support, no luck. And they said I started a trial on 11/19, which never happened and didn't work yesterday when I was driving the vehicle.

I would call and get another person. Ask for the department that handles retaining customers. I fortunately don't drive anywhere that doesn't have Verizon cell service and I have Android Auto. This allows Sirius/XM to show on my car display, eliminating the need to physically touch the phone. With the Fusion, it doesn't show on the screen though.

I have not paid "royalty fee's" for years. They tell you everyone pays them. I tell them to cancel because everyone doesn't. They come back with a one time only no fee's offer.
Thanks for this. I stuck to my guns and they issued one time credits to offset the fees.

Since they keep adding things to the base plan that I used to pay extra for, I've been able to downgrade to the less expensive plans and the annual promo prices. Not too bad.

The thing is the "Royalty Fees" were included in the subscription fees. They decided to make more money by "separating the fee" kind of like the rip off "resort fees" at hotels.

Royalty fees and resort fees are both examples of "drip pricing" where the advertised price does not reflect the true final price, but resort fees are worse. Not only are the hotels doing it so they can charge more for the rooms, but they're also saving money by taking advantage of places like Expedia only taking a commission from the room rate and not the resort fee, or states like NY where they charge hotel tax on the room rate and only sales tax on the resort fee.

Is that his real hair? Or is it a wig? He certainly dyes his hair.

I never understood the Howard Stern thing, but miss Tom Leykis BIG TIME!! I haven't heard Tom in many years. Difficult to accept Tom would fold like that, but Tom always was very money making focused. Tom had great shows.
