Holy shit that sounds awful. Sorry you're dealing with that. I do the same thing though. Sometimes it's about principal so I'll waste as much time as necessary on something like this. Paypal CS is useless and I've dealt with this exact issue but with something else.

(Sold by zavvi): BOO
The kits arrived damaged. I returned the kits to the US warehouse as Zavvi specified, and UPS (tracking number) says the items were returned to Zavvi successfully. I've attempted to work with Zavvi for a couple months to receive a refund as promised, and haven't achieved any luck. I eventually had to do a chargeback through Chase bank for the original purchase.
If possible, I'd stay away from Zavvi 👍 TrustPilot also has them rated as a 3.7.
