This is actually better to do on BBB because for today you get $100 credit on purchases over $300. So it makes it more like 300 and using cash back apps like urlhasbeenblocked, I got $25 back as well. The machines are backordered but it still let me purchase.

Can you explain how to get back $100 on purchase of $300 or more?

Not going to comment on where is the best place to order since I don't know any of the offers out there but this is a great deal. The Bambino/Plus is the best espresso machine under $500-600 imo.

The one major thing that puts this below the Barista is no grinder. The grinder on the Barista isn't very good, but it's atleast mostly sufficient. Pretty much the cheapest electric option worth getting for this is the Sette 270. It's not spectacular but it's fine. Up from that would be maybe a Eureka Crono or one of their other lower end espresso grinders. You can get away with going a bit cheaper if you go manual(maybe $150 or so iirc).

But the Bambino comes with a pressurized portafilter so you can make "espresso" with a cheap grinder to start. However, espresso with a non pressurized portafilter and a good grinder is substantially better than a pressurized filter. I don't mean like an expert could taste the difference half the time when there's a full moon and it's snowing like some things, it's actually substantial. So I'd recommend just figuring in the cost of a grinder when getting this.

Truly if you don't plan on getting a good grinder, just get a cheap espresso machine from Amazon. In the realm of pressurized portafilter espresso machines, there's not a ton of difference. However I would recommend this if you just want to start with a pressurized and then move to a non pressurized in the future.

But you can get a non-pressurized cup for $6...
https://www.breville.com/us/en/pa...01520.html

I already have a decent grinder (this one [breville.com]) that I use for making cold brew, so I was specifically looking for a small machine with no built-in grinder to sit along side that. Hopefully this proves to be a good combination for the money.

Yeah this machine should be perfect then. That grinder is fine, it's slightly better than what comes in the Barista Express.

What the other guy said.

And honestly if you do want to get into espresso, start with a grinder first. The difference is huge. I was using a 100 bucks manual delonghi stilosa with a cheap cuisinart grinder from Costco. But after adding a Eureka mignon cronos with replaced espresso burr, the difference was really day and night. And it's really not that expensive since an Eureka Filtro or Crono only goes for about 200 on most days, and you just need to replace the burr with their OEM espresso burr made for Mignon Notte which only cost about 32 bucks on Amazon. (The newer cronos and filtro nowadays uses new burrs that are designed for drip coffees now, so if you want espresso it's best you swap them with the OEM espresso burr. And you can always save those drip coffee burr in the future when you want to upgrade your grinder and use your Cronos/Filtro for drip coffee)

So for roughly 300 dollars you can already taste pretty amazing budget espresso. You can even add a bottomless portafilter from Amazon for about 30 - 40 bucks or so if you are feeling fancy.

So admittedly I don't really know the first thing about making real espresso. I picked up the Bambino Plus today and tried it out using a fine grind (but not the finest) from the Breville grinder I posted above. I'm shocked at how little yield there is with the preprogrammed double shot. I know it can be adjusted and I haven't played with that yet, but I have these glass espresso cups from CB2 and it only fills one of them halfway. I'll try again later and take an actual measurement.

-EDIT-
These are the glasses:

https://www.cb2.com/cantina-glass...up/s242880

They say 4oz, so half would be 2oz which is what the Bambino manual says for a double. Is that really a normal double shot? I figured a double was enough for two cups, hence why sometimes the machines are pictured with two cups under the portafilter, one under each spout. Again I'm completely new to this.

I don't own this and you likely need tune ... you may know this already: those are more of double espresso glasses at 4 oz. A normal one is a small 2 oz cup fairly often without a handle such as
amazon.com/DeLonghi-Double-Walled-Espresso-Glasses/dp/B004MALMT2/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=espresso%2Bcup&qid=1638750102&sr=8-4&th=1
...so you have little less than ideal but it is not 4x off.

It makes it $399 with a credit to a store whose business model is overpricing everything and running permanent 20% off coupons with lots of restrictions, one many SDers refuse to patronize.

Good deal for those who do, I suppose.

Ordered from BBB when they first dropped to $399. Item quickly backorderred, but I was ok with waiting. Just received an email this morning that my order was cancelled because they could not fulfill the order. Not sure if the other sites are any better with this deal, but the first wave of cancellations from BBB orders might be coming now with people looking to reorder
