Yup, there are other Dewalt socket set options out there at a lower price. But for a few bucks more you get the Toughsystem 2.0 tray and organizer. Mostly, this will appeal to those who have bought into the Toughsystem 2.0 boxes, and that's where the value comes in. For me, I put this into a drawer in my roller tool chest, with the option of tossing it into a Toughsystem box when I need to go mobile.

I think the case is a main attraction. I couldn't figure out how it's ToughSystem. Then I see from a picture that this is like a tray to drop into the top of a larger ToughSystem tool box. Then it's like a top tray for tools but instead it's a removable socket set in a case that drops into the same place a tray would fit. Can someone confirm this is how this would be used?

Yes i have a couple of these trays and the tray has tabs that flip out to sit in the top of a toughsystem 2.0 box instead of the factory half tray. And if you have more then one of these trays (deep or shallow doesnt matter) they will lock together. WILL NOT work with a 1.0 box though.
edit: kinda strange but there are no dividers for the trays if you have jus the tray but there are notches to fit dividers. i had to make my own dividers out of left over stock steel plate. worked out great cuz no flex on my dividers but not every1 is jus going to have flat plate laying around like i did
If you use the tough system it is nice. I own it and am tempted but that 192 piece set is a great deal for $99 but went so fast.
As I wrote in the description above, this won't appeal to everyone. Primary target is Toughsystem 2.0 users. As for the "deal" component, it's 25% off the regular price and 40% less than MSRP.
Off the topic: These deep and shallow trays are really well designed. I had them shelved in toughsystem 2 large and rolling boxes for storing accessories on top of respective tool, as well as stacked in the packout large box, i.e. deep for tool + shallow for accessories. These trays fits nicely in both box systems and are flexible to swap. The only drawback is a portion of ~1" wide "dead" space around the tray.

I just bought that one at Costco yesterday and already used it. I'm very pleased with the quality for the price.
