If I were in that boat, id look at it this way: do you want to invest $300 +$200=$500 for a lower powered series s with 1.5tb of storage, or do you want to spend $500 for a highest-powered series x with 1tb of storage? Choice is easy for me but everyone has entirely different priorities.

Not bad at all. But since the series x only has one slot for expanded (optimized games) storage, I'm waiting for the 2tb to become available (this month).

You have not purchased a gen 4 drive for $75 dollars.

Would it be better to spend on this for a Series S or just upgrade to Series X? I want the S because it's more portable, but if the X is almost as good for that then no point, right

If you're planning on getting the S and an expansion card then you may as well go for an X. Although if portability is a concern I can say personally the SeX is definitely not a light console.

Thought about getting one of these cards since I've been using my X as a emulation machine. I know for some games there are issues loading games from an external, but what about the expansion card?

I didn't really need the X when I bought it. I would have preferred the smaller sized S (and how it would have looked in my entertainment center). I really only bought the X instead of the S for 2 reasons- hard drive size and the ability to play 4k Blu-ray's on disc

You can do all kind of combinations with the Dollar General Gift cards at 15% off (available until Dec. 4 if you can find them) and the $10 off $100 or the $20 off $200 GameStop is currently running.

This is just one example. Best to use items that aren't usually on sale (like this one I think) or items that GameStop has on sale. I got the Oculus Link cable a couple days ago for $20 off (I had to pad my cart with other items to get to the GameStop discount thresholds, but they also met the criteria I described), then I could stack the two additional discounts. Slick!

Remember, you may have the monthly $5 credit too if you are a Pro member (this just reset yesterday), and this is important--

You can buy whatever amount you want at Dollar General up to $500. I knew almost exactly what my total was going to be and bought just under that. Then you don't have an odd amount sitting on a gift card that eats away at your discount percentage until you remember to use it.

Better to buy a little low than overshoot if you are trying to guess final tax amount.

EDIT: the $10 off $100 and $20 off $200 deals are dead, I missed that.

The expansion card will run everything, that's why it's so much better than a normal external

I have one of these in my X, games run on card just like internal memory. If you add a HD or SDD, then newer games will not run on it (but can be stored on it and moved to internal when you want to play)

This is right on the border for me. I don't exactly need one especially with cloud gaming on console being good enough for some games that I play very randomly.

It would be nice though

There was a post earlier this week where it was available, but it's $400.

Just a heads up. The Seagate Expansion Card was featured in a ton of Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X bundles early on. I'd check Facebook Marketplace if you're looking to save some cash. I was able to get a brand new 1TB Seagate Expansion Card for $130, and it works great. You can use other external storage devices, but you won't be able to run optimized Series S/X games from other drives.

If you're still thinking about getting a Series S or Series X with this, I would get the Series X and Expansion Drive. It doesn't make sense to spend $500 on a Series S with Expansion Drive. That's almost the price of the Series X by itself at MSRP.

Damn, literally just bought one from them last week at full price (with credit but still). Too bad they weren't like Target or other retailers that price adjust things. :-(

great deal though OP

In theory, couldn't you just swap out 2 1 tbs on the fly?

Where is this 10 off 100 or 20 off 200 deal?
