WIld Planet is good, but my new favorite is Portafino Yellowfin Tuna. This stuff is amazing:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06W9DRX3Y
Thanks for your input, I got the Portafino instead of this wild planet since it was almost the same price and they both have a 40% additional subscribe and save discount.

Sardines are much better for you, just dont get the ones packed in oil. They are one of the healhiest fish you can eat. Very high Omega 3s and almost no mercury.
Mackerel and Herring are also pretty good for you and may taste a bit better than sardines.
Agree that sardines are much better for you based on everything I've read, but strongly disagree about the oil.

Most sardines (except maybe the cheapest) I've seen are in olive oil, which is super healthy.

My account had an extra 25% off with subscribe and save

For the last couple months I've seen tons of 15% and 25% off for first time S&S listings for canned tuna and especially sardines. I asked other people I know, but they aren't seeing those discounts showing up in their accounts. Also seeing it now for canned veggies. Strange algorithm they got going.

Avoid chicken of the sea.

There's no omega oils in it. I read a comment about how they remove the omegas during processing and sell it to supplement companies. I had some CotS sardines kickin' it, so I cracked them open and sure enough they were just waterlogged mush. Not oily in the least.

I decided to write chicken of the sea and ask them why, based on my observation, their sardines have no oil.

Here's what they told me:

"Yes, our sardines in water do not contain oil. Differences in catch location, water depth/temperature and diet of the fish can affect the nutritional content of the fish, which is why you'll note less fat in our sardines versus equal portions of other brands."

So basically they target a specific depth and water temperature that prevents the fish from having oil. No shit, they really said that. Anyhow, they totally admitted their sardines don't contain oil, which makes me believe that its actually removed in processing.

I found the similar Wild Planet 100% Wild Albacore Tuna - No Salt Added, 64 Oz [amazon.com] is much cheaper. Anyone has comments or experience on this one?

If you're ready to use 64oz of tuna all at once, then sure, this is a better deal 🤷🏻 ♂️

This is a really really low price. Typically USA, line caught tuna goes for at least $5 a can. Not sure if this is just a good deal or there is something we are not considering.

I was thinking to buy it too as I saw the price went down to $~14 earlier today. I noticed someone mentioned in the previous threads that they just put the unused portion in the freezer. which can be kept for long time. Is this a feasible way?

As far as flavor goes, skipjack is more "fishy", albacore is very mild in flavor

Because it appears the seller was too lazy to provide a photo of the nutritional info panel, here it is copypasted from the manufacturer's website:

Serving Size 3oz (85g)
Calories 90
Total Fat 1g (1% DV)
Saturated Fat 0g (0% DV)
Trans Fat 0g
Cholesterol 20mg (7% DV)
Sodium 30mg (1% DV)
Total Carbohydrates 0g (0% DV)
Fiber 0g (0% DV)
Total Sugars 0g (incl. 0g Added Sugars, 0% DV)
Protein 20g (40% DV)
Vitamin D 10% DV
Calcium 0% DV
Iron 4% DV
Potassium 6% DV

Personally, I love this product, I love the low sodium, but dangit that "1.5" servings annoys the cr-p out of me. There's either ONE da-n serving in the can, or there's TWO. Do they think people throw away 1/3 of the can? Mad
This is 5oz can size, the same size you normally see in grocery stores for Starkist, Bumble Bee, and so on—at least these days.

Now if you really want a 2-serving size can (and probably better tuna as well) try the Kirkland Albacore Tuna at Costco that comes in 7oz cans.

As an old timer, I can testify it's like stepping back in time before the "incredible shrinking grocery ray" got trained on everything the last few decades.

Not only that, but once opened, you can see that it's recognizable tuna steak, and not some flaked up mish-mash resembling cat food.

Buying this is probably the worst thing you can do for our planet. The amount of bycatch of commercial fishing is insane. Yes, even those with the BS label of Dolphin-safe. It's not just dolphins they are killing. It's whales, sea turtles, sharks, and just about every other form of large sea life. Not to mention canned tuna taste like pure ass. Before I learned how bad commercial fishing is for the ocean/planet I used to buy expired Sashimi tuna in Japan, saute in a pan, and it was still 100x better than this garbage.
In general you may be right for other fisheries, but you are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off the mark here: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0177391
