So roughly 20% discount but you have to spend $400 to get it.

Only caveat worth mentioning for something like this...I've bought $100 door dash gift cards for $80 before and thought it was a great deal....until the restaurants I order from decided to raise their prices entirely negating(and in some instances exceeding) the discount.

$400 is a lot to invest for such a small discount and it really locks you in to that ecosystem. I've had it go bad on me before...just thought I'd share my experience.
This is only a good deal for people who were already going to use the service (and thus paying the inflated prices), or giving away the codes as gifts

The prices get raised regardless if you buy giftcards or not. If you are already using Doordash might as well buy the cards.
Yes, but if you have $400 door dash gift credit, you are forced to spend it through door dash.

I've stopped eating at those places that have really jacked up their prices. You can just use the credit at a different restaurant...until they jack up their prices too I guess. Thing is, $400 is a lot to commit to a sytem and 20% isn't enough of a discount to do it. 15% discounts are fairly commonplace.

Can I get an additional 2% back if I have the Costco Executive membership?

You have earned approximately $8.00 towards your Executive Member 2% Reward on this purchase.

If you think $400 is too much to commit to DD credit, you don't use DD much and this isn't for you. (Or you don't plan to gift them.)

For me I have a Chase card that includes dash pass so this this makes it even a better deal. After 20% off and free delivery it makes ordering food almost the same price as picking it up yourself. Just add a tip.
Chase free dashpass is expiring in early 2022

I want to share my experience of using a gift card balance with promotions. Maybe they've fixed this, but in the past this didn't work.

Everything would seem fine, with the promotion discount showing all the way through the order confirmation. However, without any kind of notice, the promos were retroactively removed. I only discovered this by feeling like my gift card balance was off, and going through all of my previous transactions and doing the math. I think this was happening because using gift card balances were coded as promos, so it wouldn't take both (but would let you think it did).

This was super unethical. I filed a complaint with the BBB and another through either my state or a federal agency -- don't remember which. Eventually I got most of my balance back that I was overcharged on, but I'm still sitting on a lot of DoorDash credits since I haven't wanted to use them much since.

Try taking a look at your gift card balance and looking things over if you've used it with promotions. I would love to hear whether or not this has actually been fixed.

Yes you can use gift card balance with your sapphire free membership. I've been doing that since day 1 and the most recent order is yesterday, can confirm still works.

You must have Chase Sapphire Reserve set as your payment method, changing that will remove the benefits.

However, even with CSR set as the payment method, gift cards will be applied first.

So its pretty much 20% off $100 of doordash. I'm paying 79.99 (lets say 80 to make the number easier) for $100. So basically I'm paying $400 to get $500 of door dash credit. Is this basically what the deal is or do I get an addition $100 doordash credit? Its just the wording on the deal makes it sound like if I buy 5, I would get an additional $100.
The former, you're paying 400 to get 500 worth of credit.

Just a reminder that dashpass benefits expire 1/31/22 for reserve cardholders.

READING IS FUNDAMENTAL.

$400 is too much to commit for a measly 20% discount. I've seen deals all over for 15% off.

But hey, it's your money. Why not lock yourself in to door dash for $4K? See how it works out.
The same could be said about your post. All he said was if you think 400 is a lot then you most likely don't use dd a lot. If you use dd a lot you're already spending 400-500 easily so this is still a great deal.

No need to be snarky.
