If you set an alarm for "PS5" you won't make dumb mistakes like this anymore and try blaming the poster for simply describing the product by name.

The spatium m470 deal is probably a better buy though. It's only $5 more if you don't bother with the rebate. It's faster, supports pcie gen 4, and a huge 1600 TBW.

I bought it but then a friend told me that this runs really hot sometimes. So I'm worried now. Any thoughts?

Buy a heat sink or put it on a mobo with a heatsink built in. That usually solves most heating issues. Even the cheap knock off heatsinks will work. I have used many and never experienced any overheating/throttling of any kind.

What about building in an SFF case? Mine's 3.3 liters, and without any fans outside of the CPU cooler, I'm skeptical. Also, WD Black SN750 doesn't run as hot with or without a heat sink.

For sure. The only issue with the M470 is that it runs hot - not really optimal for a laptop, for instance. See the chart in this link:

buy it, run it hard, if it overheats, return it. that's the only real way to know for sure. but personally, i would find the biggest heatsink that would fit and it all usually turns out fine.

Good point. Most (all?) laptops would run it at PCIe gen 3 speed though which may help lower the temperatures.

I could not find a head to head of the P5 and M470. The P5 isn't known for running cool either though. https://www.techpowerup.com/revie...ssd/7.html and https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...d-review/3

One other advantage for the P5 is that it's one sided. The M470 seems to have components on both sides of the PCB.

Why waste time, resources and hassle when others went through it and stated that it overheats?

Would this be OK in an Asus Tuf laptop?
