Early tests have shown that SSDs which don't match the PS5's speed requirements actually still work just fine as long as they're Gen 4 (Gen 3 is rejected by the system entirely). It remains to be seen if that's going to remain true once we leave this extended cross-gen period and get games tailored to the new storage capabilities. But I doubt it's going to matter in the end.

So, it's technically below recommended spec, but should work fine.

I have done multiple MSI rebates over the past year and have always got my money. With electronic submission (which is indeed possible on this rebate), you don't even need to print and mail anything. You save money on the stamp, paper, envelope, ink/toner costs.

Not worth the hassle? That's the point.

I haven't done a rebate offer in a while, but it was a thing of mine back in the prime days of Slickdeals. I started logging my rebates in 2015, and of the 70+ rebates I've done since, there was a 100% success rate. Only 1 company has ever been REALLY shady about it, from what I recall (a RAIDMAX rebate).

Attached a snip of my rebate log sheet Date mailed, and date received. Just something to think about

everyone's bickering about the rebate, but isn't 95 still pretty good for a Gen 4 1tb?
Yes. I own, and it works well. Just ordered one for my son.

YES, and you have to use sort of "thermal pads" between them. Some SSD, like Samsung claimed that their "name tab" can be use as thermal pad, I never use that way
Not true. Most of these Gen4 drives labels are metal and act as natural heat spreaders so you don't need to remove them when adding thermal pads or heatsinks

How am I supposed to get the money if i just placed my order? Don't i need the item in my hands before 12/6 (which is impossible) to get the rebate money?
The rebate applies to purchases from 12/03 - 12/06. Read the rebate for full details. It will specify all requirements including the last day the rebate can be postmarked or submitted.

Not every M.2 SSD, example of SN750. The "label" isn't metal at all, just sticker. I heard Samsung is metal

Edit: sorry, you mean Gen4, I have no idea...

A couple of Blue Moon cases from Costco (was surprised to find too), and one from Budweiser. I never drink Bud, but they offered yummy. Even with a rebate, it was still too watered down for my taste LMAO

Do you get a ton of junk mail?

I consider rebates a way for manufacturers to get my name & address so they can market to me later. Or worse, rent my name to marketing companies.

I won't give the manufacturer my info for $20. Some of your rebates were pretty small so it was like selling your info for only $5.
Nope. No junk in the mail. Phone wise, I usually give the wrong number anyways (change the last digit -- oops).

I see your point of view, coming from someone that refuses to have an Alexa or Google Mini in my bedroom, but it's definitely leaning towards the paranoid side.

Why do a $5 rebate? It's just a neat feeling to know it was FAR for the price of a stamp and 5 minutes of paper filling. Those were my broke days. What can I say?

No. It's gen4 but the Hynix is a massively optimized gen3

I bought this last time it was on sale and noticed that the rebate numbers are different. Would I be eligible for the $20 rebate again if I make a 2nd order or is it still one per household?

Because said company doesn't have your info or can't get it if they wanted it considering you purchased their product, whether you sent in a rebate or not…?
