For those who don't quite need over 500GB of fast storage space, this seems to be a good deal on a refurb 870 evo ssd internal sata drive.
(Usage isn't strictly for internal drive only, but usually it is.)

Samsung 870 Evo 500GB ($39.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6451688
Samsung 870 Evo 1TB ($69.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6451687
(These items frequently go back in stock and oos much, so if you don't see it in stock check back in a few hours every so often...)

Other notable internal SSD refurbs:
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB M.2 NVMe ($44.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6351465
Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SATA ($74.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6252149
Samsung 980 1TB NVMe ($89.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6457127

I believe the 980 Pro was mislabeled, its a regular 980, according to the 1 review for the listing.
How do these Geeks refurbish these things again? Do they have mini soldering irons?

Newegg still has the MSI 1TB pcie 4 on sale for $75 after rebate. https://www.newegg.com/msi-1tb-sp...6820140013
Yeah 1TB MSI is PCIe 4.0 with 1600TBW endurance. 1TB 970 EVO PCIe 3.0 is 600TBW. This 500gb model is 300TBW endurance.

$65 if you use codes for $10 off (SPECIALSW or SPECIAL4U). The latter worked for me.

Do you have personal experience with these. I'm betting not. I have yet to come across a review stating any issues with these. I have used about 5 so far of various different sizes and all tested and worked perfectly. Most have very little if any power on hours. Absolutely cannot be beat for the price for the best drives on the market. Less than half price of new I'm in for another.

Personally I'd just spend the extra $20 and get one that's under full warranty.

They're $40 and brand new is $60.

As a secondary gaming drive, I'd absolutely do this. As a primary drive, I'd spend the extra $20 for peace of mind.

I bought a 1 TB refurbished 860 in April and it works fine. Usage on it was only a few hours when I received it.

Picked one up today. Took about 45 minutes to get it, because the Geek Squad was still working on it in the cleanroom, replacing some capacitors on the board and swapping out the controller chip.

They gave me a report that show exactly how many bad blocks they'd mapped off so they wouldn't be a future problem (423,117).

So far, looks good.

I believe Samsung has a utility. And yah, CrystalDisk should do it too.
