"Outdated" depends on price point. I went to compare prices and Govee doesn't make a RGBIC light with motion control. At this price point, half of the price is really distribution and marketing costs. The no-name brands with no quality history and less distribution costs are going to be cheaper, but that is generally true for many many products.

Personally I think colored lights look weird. I'm not hosting a LMAFO concert, I am lighting my home. If you are using LEDs for white light, make sure they have at least one dedicated white LED, better if they have two (cool and warm) so you can tune the white. RGB only gives a poor white.
Link or find a bridge to troll… plenty of crap to find everywhere you buy what you bid for

I just received my LED strip, the white color is horrible more of a blueish purple color.

I got a set of these about 4 years ago from Amazon but it was not motion sensor. We had them on a timer and put on stairs at night as our dog was old and having problems going down stairs at night. These things were super bright on the lowest setting so much that we had to close our bedroom door. No idea if they've gotten any better at making the "low" setting truly low.

I really do not understand where the "deal" is here. You can literally find a whole bunch at the same price with excellent reviews at Amazon.

The motion sensor could cost big chunk of the price.

The problem with these is you can't combine them for a whole room coverage. You would have to plug in multiples. 16' is fairly short if you are looking for anything other that a stairway or just 1 side of a hallway.

Probably a dumb question but how much better are the hue lights compared to this for someone who might have both? I have the hue but they're crazy expensive.

Is it possible so solder to where it ends? I ordered and got mine delivered today I put it up in the room, the plan was to buy an led strip and solder to cover the remaining length... But idk

I've been looking for something for the stairs. I wish they would make one with two sensors, one for each end. Illuminating one side at a time is not ideal as when you get to the end of the stairs the other side lights up behind you. Other systems I've seen use a module and costs over $100

If your stairs are straight, if you have the sensor high enough it should pick up motion from both ends.

I ordered a few sets and I like them. Leds are bright. I used one set to backlight the 55 hisense TV I got on black Friday. The led light strips stick well and the sensor works well but I do leave it in the on position and just use the remote. With the sensor, these will be perfect to light up the closet shelves.

I want to avoid accidental tripping of the lights though, so it should only turn on when you first land on a step. Because there is a room right next to the stairs, people walking from the room across the hallway could trip the lights.

I'm not sure how you plan to install them but if they are running up the side of the stairs and the sensor is pointing down or up no one should trip over anything. Now if you need to run an extension cord to get power there I probably would install battery operated leds and skip any plug in type.

No app/alexa/google control? looks like 19th century product.

Yes, so many strip lights around in 1850.
