I ordered this and the Thinkpad T14 deal ($1189, which came to $1310 after WA tax). This is primarily for my Middle Schooler (6th grade) - I am seeking suggestion on which one to keep, is the Thinkpad an overkill? I personally love Thinkpad's given their durability but the price difference is making me wonder if it's worth it or should I stick to the HP.

Really?? Currently, I can't run filters like oil paint. I just need something to do things like that easily - 'rendering' as you say. Do you think this is the best deal for a laptop that will render easily? Trying to stay under $500.

This is overkill for most adult users. A middle schooler? She would be beside herself with this unit. Plus, you don't have to hover with care.. after a few years, instead of dragging out the life of an expensive rig, just upgrade.

They just shipped the 5500u, after i cancelled it. I wanted the 5700u, but did not want two laptop orders to deal with.
That said, will I be fine running Stellar, and an inventory bot on the laptop with just 6 cores, and still be able to manually make purchases on it?

Yes, get the best ram you can find and the integrated graphics on a Radeon are pretty much on par with 1550

Pretty solid deal. CPU is somewhat comparable to an mobile i5. Benched better in some benches.
Solid deal for the price, HP has pretty good build quality for it's laptops these days. Should be a solid entry level machine.
