So is the deal to buy it at Walmart, and immediately trade it into Best Buy even though it's still locked to Straight Talk?
A phone does not need to be unlocked in order to trade it in. I even asked the Best Buy rep at the mobile phone desk and they said it doesn't matter. I even asked the AT&T rep at Sam's Club and they said the same thing. I recommend that you contact T-Mobile via Twitter and ask them the same thing to be sure.
Is the walmart deal a port in deal? If so, will they accept google voice? What is the cheapest plan I can get on the walmart deal before heading to Best Buy?
I did this for the 2 iPhone Mini I got in the 299 BF sale.
Just went to Best Buy and I even told the guy that the phone was locked to Verizon. He just turned it on, looked up the IMEI number and confirmed the credit amount.
I even got to keep the charging cables I took with me just in case.
I also asked if there is any kind of limit on how many trade-ins someone can do and he said:
No! If you have 100 phones like this, just bring them in and we'll take them.

You are asking too many questions, my friend. No need to get reps involved from Best Buy, T-MOBILE or Att. All questions have been answered here a million times. Breaking all the SD rules lol

So, true. I hate it when people just talk so much about a deal to a company we are trying to buy from. Keep it on the low, folks.

Just buy unlocked phone.
Yes…Just don't take the box to Best Buy. Activate the phone and then take it to Best Buy for trade in.
I did a trade in on Saturday without any issues. Rep did not check device locking status.

Go with T-Mobile…you don't end up paying high monthly fees. If you are already on T-MOBILE then go with upgrade option
