For anyone like me who was hoping this might be the quad-core i3, it's not:

Processor Model i3-1115G4
Processor Number Of Cores Dual Core

This laptop has a 2 core processor. The I3-1125G4 is the processor everyone wants. It has 4 cores and matches the similar I5 chip in performance, with slightly less graphics capability.

You are incorrect about the RAM. This has 8GB on board and one open slot for up to 16GB module for a total possible 24GB. I know because I bought it two months ago and upgraded to 24GB with this stick of RAM [newegg.com].

A word of advice: don't upgrade to Windows 11 -- they haven't worked out all the kinks yet.

Thanks, this is exactly the type of breakdown I was hoping for! The target one actually was 1080p, but you're spot on for everything else. Thank you.
Oh I was referring to the other target one for $269 it was also a HP bit was only a 1366x768 with a Pentium Gold quad core?

Anyone who has this, how is the screen glare? I know we don't know for sure on the IPS part, but seems to check a lot of the boxes for the price point. Reflecting ceiling light or other monitors is a concern.

Pretty good for the price it has a fingerprint sensor and backlit keyboard which the target one did not have plus it has a 1080P display the target one did not, memory is upgradable to 20GB, 4GB is soldered and one slot for up to 16GB module which occupied by a 4GB stick. You can also add in a 2.5" SATA drive in the open bay, Overall for the price seems solid.
Second this. Other than being 15 inch this is pretty killer. Only thing I like more is the $399 from Walmart Gateway. (The specs, not the brand)

I bit.. hope it works out. Screen good, fingerprint reader, backlight keyboard, 8gb (can go to 20), so really other than more cores/faster CPU, not finding better at this point for the things that are important to me. Touch screen would be nice, but that would be for sure more in this size. Used coupon listed on site for free after coupon security camera if you spend $200+.

I'm almost positive it can go 36GB with a 32GB stick (if you need that much) but from what asus tech says is 16GB was the maximum they've tested confirmed that works.

Key take away is at this price point is upgradability, so many missed marks on other builds where you're stuck with what it comes with with no room for expansion.

Haven't priced differences yet, but just first thought would be hard to justify more than 20 total given the processor. You likely aren't going to multi-task too much w/o issues here. Perhaps if it was only about $10-20 between the 16 and 32, maybe. We aren't talking storage space, so likely would never come close to using 20 when not gaming, rendering images, etc. That said, like how has faster wifi, so who knows.

Oh there is quite a huge price difference for 16vs32 this laptop is perfect candidate for scrap leftover 8GB sticks from previous laptop upgrades I have like 2-3 laying around lol

Haven't read confirmation that the Asus is TN? If not IPS, I wouldn't have pulled the trigger. I would have preferred to buy from Target (have gift cards ready), but not accepting a smaller screen. If that was a 15.6, I figure I could upgrade the wifi and ram, but my past laptops had more square screens. With the current ratio they are using now, most seem pretty small in the stores. Eyes aren't getting better. Perhaps I should be looking at it more from "hooking it up to monitor, so screen doesn't matter as much" point, but again.. never getting that real estate back if you go small. Same for TVs.

I always see IPS panel being advertise up front. No term IPS was used in the office depot site, but on the asus site, "15.6-inch, FHD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 aspect ratio, IPS-level Panel, LED Backlit, 250nits, 45% NTSC color gamut, Anti-glare display, Screen-to-body ratio: 85 %". I never heard of IPS-Level panel before...

https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/F.../techspec/

Scrolling back to a prior deal on this laptop with the feature comment, "I bought this a few months back and ended up returning it. I liked almost everything about it as a budget laptop but I couldn't get past the screen. It's pretty washed out and the viewing angle was terrible. Another (minor) thing that bothered me was when open, the screen would lift the back part of the laptop up slightly presumably for a better typing angle. However, it's lifted up on tiny rubber feet that looked like would either fall out or wear out over time. As for battery life, I was averaging slightly less than 4 hours doing basic internet and tasks."

IPS level is another jargon for VA panels (vertical alignment) panels they are just as good as IPS and often have better contrast ratio however it is not a TN, they have these on display and it's easy distinguish because of the wide viewing angles.
