I always see IPS panel being advertise up front. No term IPS was used in the office depot site, but on the asus site, "15.6-inch, FHD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 aspect ratio, IPS-level Panel, LED Backlit, 250nits, 45% NTSC color gamut, Anti-glare display, Screen-to-body ratio: 85 ï¼…". I never heard of IPS-Level panel before...

Scrolling back to a prior deal on this laptop with the feature comment, "I bought this a few months back and ended up returning it. I liked almost everything about it as a budget laptop but I couldn't get past the screen. It's pretty washed out and the viewing angle was terrible. Another (minor) thing that bothered me was when open, the screen would lift the back part of the laptop up slightly presumably for a better typing angle. However, it's lifted up on tiny rubber feet that looked like would either fall out or wear out over time. As for battery life, I was averaging slightly less than 4 hours doing basic internet and tasks."

Very last post says this though:

THE SCREEN

I can confirm the older Vivobooks had awful TN screens that are washed out and distort easily.

The 2021 F513 definitely has a better screen. I cannot figure out if it is IPS or TN, but if it's a TN, it's as good as my Dell Inspiron with a 270Nit IPS. It's not as bright or vivid as my Galaxy Pro 15 but MILES better that the 1080p TN on my Samsung Chromebook 4 plus.

I would like to confirm if the screen is IPS or TN, but when I use it back to back with my other laptops, it strikes me as decently average in a much improved way than before!

It is a IPS, if you have a local store they should have one on display, the one I saw it was not TN as the viewing angles were too wide without color shifting to be a TN. It's not super bright (a brightly lit store doesn't help) but it's perfectly serviceable display.

For 2c/4 threads, this i3-1115 will always be faster than the 1125 - UNLESS you are hitting those 4 cores/8 threads with that specific workload.
Good point. Base and boost frequencies are higher on this 2 cores CPU.
But most applications can utilize multi cores nowadays because multi cores processors have been popular for years. Even usual browsing activities use multi cores natively.

As long as your needs are met by 4 threads, i.e. most people not using heavy multi-core loads, this things rocks.

I know browsers say that, but browser performance experience is still dominated by fast single core performance

Ahh thank you for that! That's why that target deal was so good.
My guess is this ASUS deal is fine, just not a killer deal without the I3-1125G4?
1125g4 means 12th gen which is expected to release in Q1 as per news

Isn't this like $100 overpriced? Worst laptop deal I've seen in a while.

Maybe it is but this how it it is in 2021 when you're dealing with chip shortages, inflation, China tariffs, and unfavorable exchange rates, with that said still a good deal considering.

Pretty good for the price it has a fingerprint sensor and backlit keyboard which the target one did not have plus it has a 1080P display the target one did not, memory is upgradable to 20GB, 4GB is soldered and one slot for up to 16GB module which occupied by a 4GB stick. You can also add in a 2.5" SATA drive in the open bay, Overall for the price seems solid.
You are incorrect about the RAM. This has 8GB on board and one open slot for up to 16GB module for a total possible 24GB. I know because I bought it two months ago and upgraded to 24GB with this stick of RAM [newegg.com].

A word of advice: don't upgrade to Windows 11 -- they haven't worked out all the kinks yet.

I don't think it is though. Seen quadcore i3 for $270 a couple weeks ago.
