That too, "open box-fair". Good laptop otherwise, but not a good deal at the listed price.

I picked up one nearby "Open Box Satisfactory" for $773.
It looks perfect. I can't tell it's used other than the fact that it did not come with the original box.
But I was surprised they included a brand new Dell S-Pen in the box. I was worried that the pen was going to be missing. (Other Satisfactory" laptops I've bought from BB have always had the pen missing.)
So far it's working fine, but I just got it a few hours ago.
I hope it doesn't have any of the problems in all the one star reviews!

Just put in an order for a open box fair for $713. Let's see how it fairs. Anyone else test theirs out yet?

The laptop is for my wife for Christmas. So I was able to transfer everything over to the laptop and just make sure everything is working. So far (knock on wood), everything seems to be working. I ran a few benchmark/test and it seems fine. It's definitely not a gaming laptop for sure, but for everything else it seems to work well.

I didn't realize how small and light and thin this laptop is. Super portable, but at UHD resolution on a 13" screen, the text is SUPER small! I had to change the Windows scale to 200%. It came set to 300%. The screen looks great though.

The speakers can get super loud. Strange for such a small laptop. No bass really, but that's to be expected at this size.

I see that the 1 yr warranty expires on 9/27/2022, so I guess the warranty started when it was first purchased?

I wish it had more ports, but I bought a display port/USB-C dock since I plan on hooking up two monitors, keyboard, mouse, and external hard drives to it to replace my wife's current desktop. We'll see how that goes once I get the dock.

I purchased mine 2 days ago, a replacement for my old latitude 5290.

The built is excellent and the screen is a 100% SRGB UHD screen with 300 nits. Intel Xe iGPU with quad channel memory can ran most current game in 1920x1080 low preset or 1280x720 mid preset. It also comes with 40gbs TB4 port for docks and charging.

Overall, I'm very happy with the laptop.

Pro:
less than 3lb ultraportable, 2.75lb
100% SRGB UHD Screen
Intel NVME ssd with Optane drive
Active pen support with built in charger and holder
Intel Xe G7 GPU with quad channel memory, capable of light gaming
Speaker is loud
Full metal alloy body
Windows Hello ir 3D camera and power button finger print reader

Con:
Screen could be brighter and hdr support, only 300 nits

I also got an open box fair condition, but it was like new. No scratches or dents. Came in a generic Best Buy box with the Dell pen and power adapter. It was listed $713 online, but rang up at $654. I turned it on in the store and it booted up to the Windows setup, so it was either factory restored again or it wasn't used yet. The service tag shows it was shipped August 27, 2021 and the warranty ends Nov 26, 2022. Good deal so far, but I haven't set it up yet. I've read it runs hot and the battery doesn't last long with the 4K screen. I'll see how it goes.

Wow that's an awesome deal. Did you order online and the price adjusted when you picked it up?

I have owned two of these Dells. Both failed. The first with a display issue and the second with a motherboard issue.
They were very lightly used, at home only. Never traveled, bought as work from home laptops for myself and my partner during the pandemic.

Dell support was useless. You can blame chip shortages, but Dell was unable to repair either because these are non-standard discontinued models. So there are no parts.

The pen is also not replaceable. Dell doesn't sell spares or replacements.

It's always a case of your experience may be different, but I would not recommend these Dell laptops. I would definitely not buy an open box because warranty-wise you're even worse off.

I could have had bad luck and your experience may differ, but the 1 star reviews on Best Buy are there for a reason.

I wasn't able to order online as it said only available in store (but did specify the stores with the open box in stock). I stopped by the store, inspected it, then purchased it.

I have had one for awhile though don't use it alot. The only knocks I have against it is poor battery life at under 4 hours when watching youtube, should be 3 instead of 2 USB port, & I wish the lower hinge was stiffer (ok on desk, but on lap it only leans back a little before the hinge gives).

That's actually a good thing.
If the laptop breaks in the future, it will simply be replaced by a newer/current model with a pen. "free upgrade"

as for the warranty, mine ends on november 27th, 2022 with the ability to extended to the max 4 years via dell.com self service

I bought a open box excellent yesterday and the pen was missing, laptop was in a generic plastic bag and power supply was just thrown in the box. I returned it an hour later and told them the pen was missing. Sure enough it's showing back up on the site as one left in excellent after showing no more in store after I bought it. Best Buy quality control has gone down hill.
