About this game:
  • A horrible crime was committed on the grounds of Warwick Manor thirty years ago. Now the mansion is haunted by the ghost of the murdered servant and it's up to a group of psychic investigators to get to the bottom of the mystery.
  • One player takes on the role of the victim (who is now a ghost) and the rest play as psychics. Over the course of the game, players work together to solve a mystery by psychically communicating with the victim. The ghost tries to lead psychics to the correct culprit.
  • Each player investigates a case assigned to them to determine who the actual murderer is. Psychics receive numerous visions from the ghost with clues. Can they determine the weapon, location and killer, or will a violent criminal pull off the perfect murder?
  • Dozens of different suspects, weapons and locations ensure no two games are the same!
  • This family and adult board game can be played with 2 to 7 players.
  • The average playtime is 45 minutes.

Really creative and different game. Most similar to a combination of Dixit, Clue, and Guess Who. Rules and setup are more complicated than your typical casual game but after the first playthrough it's pretty simple.

I'd recommend for a creative cooperative game but I wouldn't recommend for the suggested 10+ age group. (I think 15+ would be better as the creative part can be tricky)

This is a steal for a great pseudo party game that plays up to 7 players. It can be a bit challenging for new groups though. Setup is kind of a PITA.

That IS where the fun comes in.

Complicated, yes. But uniquely fun.

It's just an advanced game.

Great game, at this price I wouldn't hesitate. Easy to teach, fun on the first go around, everyone's brains see such different things it can be frustratingly hilarious trying to communicate with only Daliesque dreamscapes.

Expansions are only really needed if you have exhausted the quite large standard deck with the same group over and over again, if you mix up your game groups it would never get stale due to how everyone interprets the same things.

Fun game, but literally one of the worst instruction books I've ever experienced. The first time I played it was with a mixed group of both very experienced board gamers and casual players, and we all had an issue getting it at first.

Still, it was worth it, and the game is a lot of fun. Just have some patience at first, and replay a few times to make sure you get all the rules.

We tried this game out last year and had an awful time with it. Ridiculously long setup that requires A LOT of table space. The step where you are supposed to use the visions cards to give hints isn't as fun as the instructions lead you to believe. Very few of the cards can be tied to a character as neatly as their examples. You're usually left having to pick the least crappy card that no sane person could make the connection with.

I love this game but it's not for everyone. Great price. In summary a player is trying to guide the other players using abstract and vague cards as hints as to who the killer(weapon, room) is. Fun to try to connect on something, put your brains together, it is 100% coop so you win or lose together

Got to agree with you on the instruction book. Unnecessarily convoluted.

No, it wasn't just complicated. It felt like a core step in gameplay, the visions, is broken. Most cards cannot, even extremely loosely, tie into most characters.

Our group had the same negative experience as you. It felt trying to be overly complicated to hide simple mechanics but it wasn't fun.

fully agree with the negative setinment here.

This game is really hit or miss. Tried with 3 different groups of friends, some very deep into BG, others not and casual...feedback was mostly across the board.

This game is heavily over rated on BGG. There are far better games out there that have similar coop theme that actually are enjoyable to play and faster to set up/teach.

I think this game is super fun, very creative. I guess you need to know whether you are creative or not because that's 99% of the fun. If you prefer more scripted games or games defined by very hard rules, this is not for you.

Mysterium is an interesting game but not for everyone. The degree of fun/success in this game is highly dependent upon two factors 1.) Synergism between members of the group. 2.) The degree to which players can think abstractly/surealistically and translate that into clue giving/recieving.

Another way to put things is if your group likes Pictionary, this might work for your group.

As others have mentioned, setup is a pain. The Ghost absolutly has to be the individual with the best visual --> verbal thinking.

I'd agree. It is best at higher numbers of players but each player really increases the setup/downtime between turns. It is not for young kids unless you want to be doing lots of helping and bending of the rules as to what can be communicated and what cannot be.
