The one below one is also on sale ($20), if someone wants USB charging ports and higher joules rating. Though one of the comments notes: "But for clamping voltage, it has a line to neutral (L-N) rating of 400V, line to ground (L-G) rating of 500V and neutral to ground (N-G) rating of 500V. Those values are too high."

Well ...in all honesty it is a good idea to have a surge protector.
A power spike can easily render someone's home theater inoperable.
Granted, nowadays they're started to manufacture them with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, tiny LCD screens... etc...

reminder that you should replace your surge protectors. just realized i had a radio shack surge protector plugged behind a cabinet that probably isn't protecting jack shit anymore.
