Is that good or bad for the clamping voltage? I recall people do bring this up in surge protector threads, but can't remember if the number should be higher or lower.

Lower, so this is good, particularly for the price. Also consider that this is coming from a fairly reputable brand in the power space. Don't expect this to provide the protection or lifetime of some rugged, steel-construction model targeted at commercial applications at over ten times the price [amazon.com]... but for many applications this should let you sleep at night.
