I'm holding out for that 12th gen CPU. Hopefully Dell has their cooling mechanisms dialed in for that line though.
They just released the new xps line with 12th gen. Pricey and the cases are larger.

Can you tell me if the ram is two 16gb sticks or four 8gb sticks?
It has 2 x 16GB sticks of ram.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm in no rush though so my intention is to wait a bit for a decent sale.

Wow that sounds like a mess.

How easy would it be to sell the card out of this? I don't want to get stuck with the card if it's something hard to sell.

Wouldnt recommend selling a gpu unless you ship it with an anti static bag. You can buy them on Amazon but gpus are pretty delicate. They are easy to take out of the case but need to be shipped with a lot of care

Just looking at the new Dell XPS 8950 and it looks like it only has display port on the motherboard and no hdmi? I thought this might have hdmi 2.0 but it doesn't even look like it has hdmi onboard?

Need to click on product details and scroll down to ports and slots.

Thank you for the info. Also you mention the cost to upgrade the cpu cooler. Would I need to worry about that if I sell the gpu and just use the integrated graphics?

Thanks,

-Guru
Yea you still want to upgrade the CPU cooler if you're gonna do anything intensive on the computer, even non gaming tasks. If just using internet, streaming and word processor, this system is a little overkill IMO. Also this beats any Dell or HP online deal RN because if you can find it, you get it NOW instead of 1-3 months later, esp with HP.

According to posts on the Dell customer forum (see here [dell.com]), the Arctic Freezer i13 X cooler is a plug-and-play replacement for the stock cooler (i.e. it fits in the existing cooler mounting holes, isn't too tall for the 8940's relatively narrow case width, and most importantly, it keeps the CPU cool). I've order one to install in my own XPS.

Also consider upgrading the stock 80mm rear case fan to a 92mm. (The case already has holes for a 92mm.)

All stores (St. Louis) showed some in stock, but the two I went to have none left, except a display. I bought the display anyway for my daughter, who wants a powerful desktop for school projects. Hopefully, this will fit her needs.

How does 8GB TI compare to 12 GB regular 3060?
The Ti is superior.
