Target is running a Buy 2, Get 1 Free promotion on select toys, including some board games, from now through December 11, 2021.

Select free pickup where available, otherwise shipping is free on $35+ orders. Some items ship free for RedCard holders without the $35 minimum order requirement.

Note: Discount is applied automatically in cart when you add 3 eligible items. The price of the lowest item will be divided by three and subtracted from each eligible item before being totaled.

Yeah…. Which means they didn't jack up the prices, it's just that the last sale ended and now this sale is different lol
Not saying you're wrong, but specifically speaking to your example: ticket to ride (been playing and purchasing as gifts for others for a few years now) has always been around $40, some versions of it are even more. Maybe $18 was during the last sale or on Black Friday? I'm seeing quite a few games at normal price.

I did a brief search and didn't see this posted already, nor did I notice it in this week's weekly ad when I looked at it on Sunday.

Edit: For those unfamiliar with this (occasionally recurring) deal, ordering three things that have the same price will maximize your savings at 33% off.

This deal doesn't appear to require saving a Target Circle offer; nor does it seem to be limited to just one order. It doesn't seem to include books, movies, music, or video games like the deal often does.

You can also buy 3 things, then cancel 2 of them, and keep the one item with 33% off.

Some items were 50% off and some items were B1G1 50% off (effectively 25% off). I'm not sure how the selection of toys compares between that offer and this one, but when it comes to board games, very few items were on promotion during Black Friday. As far as I can tell, the only games that were on promotion that week were:
Azul
Beat the Parents
Bulls-Eye Ball
Catan
Chess & Checkers
Deluxe UNO
Disney Villainous
Doggie Doo
Gator Golf
Hungry Hungry Hippos
Jenga
Merry Grinchmas
Monopoly Target Edition
Quirkle
Shark Bite
The Game of Life
ThrowThrow Avocado
ThrowThrow Burrito
Ticket to Rite
Visionaries
Watch Ya Mouth
and a couple jigsaw puzzles

I bought Roblox toys which turned out to be a pretty good deal. You can get 3 'mystery box' figures, each with a virtual item. Buy 2 at 3.99 each then the 3rd is free! I did that in store then bought 3 collectible sets of figures at 19.99 each with the 3rd being free.

All board games and puzzles were 50% off for the week leading up to Black Friday. My store only had certain games with a sale tag, but there were bigger signs everywhere that just said Board Games 50% off. Others reported being told that they were all 50% off. I don't remember all that I checked, but they rang up 50% off. I wasn't sure if I should get any because we have so many board games and rarely play them, but I ended up picking up One Night Ultimate Werewolf because my son had been wanting it (he even tried making his own version by cutting out pieces of paper and making his own cards).

It depends on what they want. None of them give an advantage. The digital codes are mainly cosmetics. With the blind boxes, there are just different series. Each box comes with a random figure from that series. So it just depends on what series the store has in stock (as sometimes they may still have an older series along with a newer one, or at one time there was a separate celebrity series). If they have different series to choose from, then it's just about which series may have figures the kid wants. As for the bigger sets, again, it's all about which one the child wants. Sometimes it's about which game(s) they play (my daughter's favorite game is Adopt Me, so she wants the Adopt Me set...which went away a long time ago, but I surprisingly found them, again, the other day) or about the characters they may want. Or it may be about the digital item that comes with it. One year, my son did want the set that came with a big figure because the digital item was that character. But mostly the digital items are cosmetics like hats, shirts, accessories, etc.
