We are in serious trouble... A 50 inch offbrand TV is $300

Bought this TV on Black Friday (Echo Dot not included). It's been fine so far, Fire TV software already feels a little slow and will probably get even slower with time. Will probably plug in a Roku or Apple TV in the future. Picture is okay, leans a little reddish even after calibration. For $300, it works.

Is the software up to date? Also, are there a bunch of apps installed? I have a similar insignia tv and it gets slow if there isn't much space on the tv but is otherwise quick. Right now I'm just looking for a TV to put in the gym and stream the peloton app and maybe a couple other streaming services.

Brought this TV home tonight. Even though I didn't need it, free echo dot was a nice bonus and will definitely be using the 3 free months of Apple TV.

Picture is not bad at all. It is not going to blow your mind, but it is a suitable TV. Expectations were low because of the price, but it has exceeded my low expectations. For comparison, I got the 43in LG Black Friday TV from target (43UP7000) and this looks marginally better. So I returned the LG. I am sure there are some technical reasons why the LG is better, but just from the "guy looking at a TV test" this picture looks better. Plus it is bit more screen for a bit less money. It works for me.

Where do you see the free Echo Dot? The website doesn't show that.

It is up to date. I removed a couple of apps and that helped speed it up a bit but I wish I didn't have to do that. Other Fire Sticks that I have had slowed down over time in a way that Roku's and Apple TV's have not

You can actually get free Apple TV for 3 months at Best Buy. It's only for first subscribers too. Here's the link.

Element is trash.

Lets jump in my time machine to 2 years ago BF when I got that 55" Hisense Roku TV for $200. Blows this deal away, but these are the prices in the now, unfortunately.

Fast forward to this year, and I got the 55" Sceptre from Wally for $248 early access.

58" version is $349 with free echo dot 3.. HDR 10 and built in fire stick looks good. I was hoping to see this drop to $299.. I guess we have to pay now..

Yes we are unfortunately. There is no way I am buying insignia 50" television for that price. No way!
