What does "Second Quality" means?
It means there may be some slight cosmetic defects. IF they exist, they don't hinder the performance of the cookware. I've been buying All-Clad 2nds for almost 15 years, and only ever seen one slight defect.

It's on the linked page, right below the form asking for your email:

I actually agree with the 12" sentiment, unless I'm cooking something for strictly myself. The 12" better accommodates 1 lb of ground meat for browning without having to do so in batches.

I also like the 3 qt saute pan, which has roughly the same base circumference as a 12" frying pan.

Sauciers are excellent, but I don't think they offer the 3 quart anymore which sucks.

Lastly I use stainless over non-stick probably 90% of the time. Better at searing, building up a fond, don't have to worry about being so gentle with your utensils, etc... Never had any problem with food sticking, at least not when I didn't intend it to.

I wanted to order the 12" ST5 but on the order page for credit card entry I did not see any indicator it was secure. Wish they took PayPal.

Wish the copper core non stick fry pans were in stock
Those pans aren't usually the greatest value. But factory seconds is a good way to reduce that burden. All nonstick pans will wear and become trash no matter how much babying is done.

What food are you planning on cooking in the copper core nonstick? Sticky food with better temperature control sounds like a fun challenge.

The "b" stands for brushed finish on the exterior of the pots/pans, and the "s" for polished shiny finish.

The numbers tell you the number of layers in the metal used for the main body of the pot/pan. "5" means it's stainless-aluminum-stainless-aluminum-stainless steel, and "3" means stainless-aluminum-stainless.

some good deals but some meh

I want to get a new 3-qt pot and this one for $97 shipped final sale vs $120 brand new from retailers, maybe less with codes or cashback.

didn't realize it's free shipping, so $90. A little better but is it worth an extra $30 for a brand new one? probably

I bought their brushed D5 3qt sauce and saute pans three weeks ago and gotta say, for factory second, I'm very impressed. One item came in a retail box, the other was a brown box. I looked for what made it second ..let's just say, this is how I'll buy All Clad items in the future.

btw, the Brushed is beautiful as it's very fine brushed compared to what i typically see as brushed aluminum in stores. This is my first All Clad item. Next item will be a 10" non-stick pan ..or 12" based on the first post Smilie

Wonder how thick the base of the pan is. I have a glass cooktop that has smaller burners than I would like and some cookware just end up cooking in the center of the pan. How do these compare to madeincookware.com cookware? Saw some of the other posts. Looks like I want the D5 for 5 layers of heat conduction! thanks!!

bought a 12" pan a couple years ago and I absolutely love and beat the hell out of it.
and because it's a 12", I'm having trouble figuring out if I need anything else...12" is so versatile.
