I remember reading something about WD downgrading their nand or something that reduced performance. Might want to look into that.

Sustained Writes slow as Top SATA SSDs around 399MB/s since it has no DRAM.

Why wouldn't you just get a Crucial or SanDisk for $5 more at BestBuy? They seem like faster and better drives compared to this.

Amazon has a $5 coupon to match that for the 1TB version, YMMV.

The SanDisk SSDs are rebrands of Western Digital drives.

I mean, for a boot or game drive, reads and bursty writes are really the most important factor.

This thing doesn't fit too many Blu-ray rips and you probably would crush it's write endurance if you keep writing it full and emptying it.

For a lot of folks wanting a solid boot drive in a budget build this is a decent choice.

Gotta stack them dollars to afford a GPU somehow 😂

If I wanted a USB-powered enclosure to make this into an external drive what would you recommend?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RVC6F9Y/

For M2 nvme and sata. Has the Realtek RTL9210B which is supposedly the best chipset.
On that page under similar items there are enclosures that use Jmicron(older) which are usually cheaper and SSK worked for me, Be sure they work with M2 nvme,
