EDIT: I found it good through Dec 26th.
Samsung disables eSIM functionality on their flagship models (and claims it's because the carriers won't allow it - although Google and Apple seem to be able to persuade the carriers).
Motorola's only eSIM offering is the razr - and it's single sim to boot.
So who should I buy from, if I'm looking for 5G / dual sim with eSim?

Would have gotten the Pixel 6 but I think the crappy fingerprint reader would ruin the joy of it for me.... so hopefully this 5a will hold me over until Google fixes the problems with the 6 and 6 Pro (6 Pro adds the problem of a curved screen in addition to the crappy fingerprint reader). Maybe the 6a or Pixel 7 will get it right.
Decided to buy this case for it:

It shows as $15/mo with device protection but I was able to deselect the $6/mo device protection.
Contrast it with $399 upfront + $192 = $591 for unlimited talk and text for 24 months on Tello (same T-mo coverage); or with 1GB data per month : 399+240 = $639 on Tello, or 399+200 = 599 on Boost's new 1 GB annual plan.
FI makes more sense if you use a lot more data AND have consistent overseas travel (having data overseas without having to pay extra for roaming or the hassle of a second sim).
I added the detail of the promo offer as a possible plus. The subscription offer makes reasonable sense for someone who wants to switch into FI and stay for a couple of years; the promo offer is for someone who wants to try it out, but not necessarily decided about staying.

Anyways, I believe Google store benefits from 10% off for Google One subscribers.

While the XR isn't a bad phone the Pixel 5a should last longer & I'm more of an Android user than Apple ( I was also able get one of the ST iPhone 12 Mini's for cheap the other day & activated it on my TF account).
