No one's saying it can't be done, it just screams "I bought this in bulk and your gift isn't individualized to you" when you split items from a single box up and put them in plain packaging yourself. And perhaps more importantly, you're no longer giving a new-in-box gift.

If you're fine splitting them up, that's totally cool. No judging. But I don't like doing it, and I'm sure OXH feels the same— it makes me feel miserly.

I'm a little surprised at how defensive you are about it— you're free to do it, and I'm not saying you're wrong to. I don't think it's a "problem," so flippantly chalking my own thoughts up as a "first world problem" is curious.

I do indeed live in the first world, and I'm fortunate enough to earn a living that allows me to be choosy about how I give to people. I like to present to people cards and new-in-box gifts that I hope they like, but can easily return for store credit if they don't. Splitting a bulk gift up prevents that.

But absolutely, if you can't afford or don't want to spend that little bit of extra cash for each person to get their own, it's still a nice gesture. I think we can all agree that thinking of and being generous toward others is the important thing about this time of year. Keep spreading cheer, my friend.

Walmart 4 pack @ 86 and some change last week was better. $21/ea before tax.

Only downside to that is if you are splitting them for gifts, as the 4 pack is a single box.

Just split the box up and put them in plain cardboard boxes. They are still airtags and work exactly the same without the retail box. The manual is even downloadable online, and there are tons of videos showing how to set them up on Youtube. If your gift recipients have a problem with the box their gift came in rather than feeling lucky you got them anything at all, just cross them off your shopping list for future years. Easy peasy.

Talk about one of the best example of "first world problems" I think I have ever heard....

I would feel generous for spending what you can afford to spend regardless if it came in separate boxes or not.... Who cares if they think something that's the truth? Hell, write a note in a card if you are worried about the gift recipient thinks it's less "individualized" if you used your own carboard box rather than the corporate cardboard box it came in.... I think a card with a note in it is far more "individualized" than a retail cardboard box.

I mean sure, if you have the option to buy them individually for pretty much the same price I'd do that over buying a 4 pack, but if that's not an option I'm buying 4 packs and splitting them up all day and I would never fathom being less appreciative of a gift because of the box it came in. To me this is beyond absurd and would consider myself an idiot if ever entertained such a thought. To each their own I guess.

I've never had anyone think less of a gift because I got the same thing for more than one person, If someone ever expressed something like that to me it would be the last time I ever purchased anything for them. To each their own I guess! Peace

The point is that individually they've been sold lower as a 4 pack and to wait until the next sale. Is it wrong to point this out?

Good info. They are trolling. You just have to ignore them.
