Got it then.decent set nothing spectacular. Update the firmware as soon as you get it. I hate the one button control underneath the bottom of the TV though.

It might be one-off experience because my use is probably not how most people's use their smart TVs. If you use Hulu, Netflix, etc, you may very well like Android TV.
With how cheap all these units are nowadays, may as well try it out for yourself and eeturn of you don't like it

My logic is buy whatever you like/is the best deal, you can always get a cheap and updated device to attach later on.
For example, if you have Netflix, the Chromecast with Google TV works out to be like $9-15 after the Netflix credit. I'm sure the Roku sticks are equally reasonable and either of those is going to more capable than the baked in OS for streaming.
For what it's worth, the Roku interface is pretty slick, has some good customization options, the Roku channels are a nice addition, and it does a relatively good job with Live TV. On the negative side, it's really chatty on the network and is always trying to phone home. Plus you can't halt updates unless you block stuff on your network (or don't give it network access at all).
Not sure if Android is quite as noisy on the network, as we use a CCwGTV separately.
