In case you were wondering, neither this test nor the BinaxNOW test sold at Walmart linked to above are valid for satisfying pre-cruise or travel requirements. The tests for those purposes must be professionally monitored. Yes, the Binax monitored test is essentially the same test kit but with monitoring included brings the price up to $30-$35 each.

What I've yet to see data points on though, is if you've purchased the monitored BinaxNOW test and have an issue with it (such as dry reagent bottle, defective adhesive on the card, etc. - these things DO happen), whether you could swap in the failed part from one of the cheap BinaxNOW kits. I doubt the monitor would let you (they are just following a strict script) but I've never seen a report of someone trying that.

You need RTPCR or sometimes PCR test for travel, some insurance companies do cover charges but most are out of pocket and expensive.

Not always. Certainly not in the cruise industry. Vaccinated guests usually can do antigen tests such as these. Check with your specific carrier, though, as these things vary and do change practically every day.
