Same reason people dump on knives with common steel, then use their fancy blades only to open Amazon boxes.

Not sure why you're saying the black batteries are trash. Sure they don't have a lot of run time because they're 1.3ah, but I've had mine for 4 years now and they still hold a charge and work great, especially for small projects around the house.

I'm not a fan of the black batteries either, I've had several over discharge and won't work any more. Don't recall any of my yellow (2ah or greater) failing but it's possible I simply forgot. I know for a fact that about 4 of the black ones have, don't over discharge and should be fine. I don't try to over use the batteries but it happens.

Easy fix...this has happen to my 5amp battery a few times. You can jump the battery with another battery with two wires to the proper pins. It'll give the battery enough juice so the charger recognizes it again.

If batteries are a worry, Dewalt replaced by 5ah when it stopped charging without even a question. I called, asked nicely, and they mailed a new one out.
