I think the consensus is Jamo is an entry level set and this is just a bit better. From what I can tell the speakers in this set are ok. I think keeping the Jamo isn't bad and upgrade each piece as you see fit is the way to go. Most people would be perfectly happy with an entry level bundle.

The better speakers aren't usually in a bundle, if they are you would still be paying over $1k on them during a sale.

Here is the upgraded version of this deal on adorama. It has upfiring speakers which add ~200-300 to the total.

Crutchfield has a sound comparison for 610f and 809s, you can check that out though I am not sure if it is accurate. One of the sample tracks has a distinct boominess/muffle in 610f for me so I went with Jamos as I prefer clarity and it is quite good I think coming from the Klipsch synergy series. Keep in mind sensitivity is higher for Klipsch, thus they will be much louder with less power.
Also if you have an entry avr, you might want to mark the fronts as small, auto calibration marked them large and that makes the thermal goes quite high for me, I have Denon s760h. Instead I think I prefer subwoofer taking over.

Can you list all your set? How the Denon s760h working with them? I find it is available in Costco, try to order it, but it says "75W per channel", is it strong enough to drive Jamo sets (Jamo S 809 (pair) + Jamo S 801 (pair) + Jamo S 83 +Jamo S 810 150w Subwoofer). Sorry I am newbie on this audio system.

wattage ratings are 2 channel. You will only get 50-70% of that when running all channels

Yeah I was a newbie as well couple of months ago, np. That subwoofer has its own amp, Avr power doesn't matter for that. Only S809 would be under powered and my experience is that 70% volume, s809 being set as small and 15ft away is more than enough loud for me, past that it is uncomfortable (for me at least). Also that power is measured with 2 ch, most probably it is lower than that maybe when all ch are driven (though i am not certain). Just research distortion and under powered Avr, but again my conclusion is it is a problem when Avr tries to power it more than it can handle, for me that is not the case with s809. The only problem would be s83 center being a bit short on clarity, but I set the dialog enhancer and turn in cinema EQ on Denon, and it works for me. People also recommended a higher quality subwoofer, like svs or monolith though keep in mind that they are not budget Smilie

Thanks for reply! I definitely need to understand many concepts before I purchase a receiver.

I bought this set last year with the onyko ys494 receiver. I love the system but am going to upgrade the fronts to the ones with the upfiring speakers.

Nothing beats the Polk LSim 707 package deals that the OP blasted out a few years ago. Man what fantastic setup. Still am loving it although they take up a ton of space and are beasts they look amazing.

I did have to add a beast of a 5 ch to push those monsters.

Thanks OP for the grins.

You get what you pay for, very loud but not clear and you get ear fatigue very quickly. Worse part is Adorama terrible return policy. If you don't like it, you are stuck with heavy shipping charges. So buy only if you are sure you are going to keep it or better stay from it.
