Just FYI the newer Hero 10 is $350 from GoPro with a free year of GoPro Subscription (which includes accidental damage replacement).

I got a great deal on a 7 Black bundle a few months ago and it's honestly my biggest tech purchase regret of my life. Just be sure if you WANT an action cam that you have a real, solid need for one on a regular basis. I did some offroading videos, a few good hikes, a couple rollercoasters. It has some cool aspects, but I found myself using my phone much more frequently (unless durability was absolutely crucial). The menu and interface for GoPro is like a Blackberry from 15 years ago, or a first-generation car touchscreen. Not responsive and not intuitive, and it chews through batteries insanely fast. Swapping batteries is not super easy and definitely messes with video continuity (and your activity!). I'm kind of shocked these took off in the first place, since the market for them seems tiny, but they're selling like crazy. Maybe it's like SUVs, where 95% of buyers are aspiring to something more than actually doing it.

Hard to say all this to my wife, who bought it for me, so I'm telling strangers on the Internet.

Not sure why anyone would buy the 9 when the 10 is available for only $30 more. The 10 has a new processor in it as well.
