They're only salty because they didn't get it added to their cards soon enough.

Nobody should get an AMEX card with any expectation of receiving this offer, or that they will ever see it again. Might as well just go get a lottery entry. About the same chance.

Were you close to another threshold? It says one or more transactions so I'm guessing it was just that next spending tier.
