Also needs to be avoided. Any sulfate.

The cheapest sulfate free shampoo I have found is at Walmart for $7 for 32 oz. Every other one is much more expensive. This stuff smells great and does wonders for the hair:

Here are a few others that do different things and are sulfate free:

Quite happy with $10.85 for 15% S&S TU. For price comparisons it's currently 16.46 at wally world stores for a 2 pack or 9.94 for a single.

I trust a guy with a Bob Ross profile picture to give hair advice!

Do some research. There is plenty of evidence to back up what I am saying. I'm just trying to be helpful.

Barber for 20 years here. Avoid Head&shoulders shampoo. You'll lose hair. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Rinse your hair with cold water for a min or 2 instead, right before you get out of the shower. You can still take hot shower, just stick your head only back under cold water

is that like after shaving I am told to wash my face with cold water to close out the pores?

I was joking about Bob Ross having a well kept afro for his career 😌, but regardless I should be doing my research lol

And Walgreens has same shampoo (but smaller size as I thought it was same) for 5.99 but buy 2 and use $3 coupons, etc., and get it for around $9...

Again. Smaller size but an alternative.

Avoid shampoos with sodium laureth sulfate. Sulfates destroy protein and 90% of your hair is protein.
I'm pretty sure after all these years, users of H&S would've given horrible reviews, sued and put them out of business if their products sold & marketed specifically to take care of their hair had actually destroyed their hair, don't you think? It would be blatant, categorical false advertising if there were enough sulfates in it to destroy people's hair, no? Seems simple enough to just use it every other day instead of every day.

So it looks like its ok to use sulfates if you shampoo every other day?
Which most people should be doing, anyways. Shower daily, sure, but there's no need to shampoo daily.

What's the typical shelf life on shampoo? Specifically Head and Shoulders? I'm the only one in the family who uses this and I still have a little left but bought a similar deal 2-3 years ago and the shampoo expired in 2020 and still using it. Is it just less effective?

I have short hair and only wash every 2-3 days. I've been using the same bottle for almost 4 years.

Ive been using H&S for almost 20 years and havent really noticed any hair loss. And if there is any, most likely due to aging lol. Just my experience with it. Im sure others are perhaps more sensitive to chemicals.

I stopped using Head & Shoulders this year. Their shampoo includes pfthalates, a plasticizer used to extend the life of fragrance in this case. It's hard to say what the exact effect is on people, but there are concerns over hormone levels, so why risk it? Dove shampoos do not have pfthalates or sulfates, from what I understand.

Just my $.02 after using H&S for 25 years or so.

Yeah i'm confused, why are we sticking our head back in cold water exactly?

No need for most people to shower daily either... especially if you just work in an office or something.

Plus the main ingredient in Head & Shoulders is Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO), and it is deadly stuff. Avoid.
