I would not pay anywhere near this much for a Motorola phone given their terrible record of software updates. One example is the Motorola One Ace 5G that launched at the beginning of this year with Android 10 but was promised to get an Android 11 update shortly. Not only has that never happened (at least in the US), it hasn't even recieved a security update since May. They completely dropped support in less than 4 months after announcing the phone. It's less than a year on the market now, but two versions behind on Android and 7 months behind on security updates, with no signs it will ever get another: https://www.att.com/device-suppor...laXT21135/
This is just one example of their complete lack of support for their phones

Most likely you won't get the OS updated, but my One Ace 5G definitely does get security updates. (Current one is Sept '21).

Which carrier do you use? I checked T mobile too, and their latest security update is the June one: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/devices/android/motorola-one-5g-ace/software-updates-motorola-one-5g-ace

I am also on T-Mobile, but my phone was bought as unlocked retail. Maybe it means T-Mobile or the other carriers are also dragging their feet on updates as well.

I've been buying Motorola since the Droid Razr Maxx HD (then Turbo 2 and now Z3). When I looked at a new phone last month to replace my 3-year old Z3, I was disappointed at the processors in the current phones that are worse than my Z3, which I had bought for $120 Cyber Monday deal. What a let down. I'm waiting for a good deal on Samsung or Google and I think I'll make the jump anytime. The Z-series moto mods seemed like a good idea. Keep the same phone form factor to keep costs down and just upgrade the insides (RAM, processor, batter) and the mods work across the series. Sadly, they abandoned it.
Do you think Lenovo purchasing Motorola was the downfall?

I have an Edge 2020 which I love, and have just now ordered the 2021 model. There's a lot I like in it, the large battery and 144Hz screen for example. It lacks the microsd slot, but the standard 256Gb capacity sort of make up for it. Motorola promised 2 major software updates for the 2021 model
