I do appreciate my SP6 is very light but if I could do it over again I would have just gone with a regular ultraportable laptop and bought a dedicated, separate tablet.

In fact this question has been answered long ago. When the base Macbook storage was 128GB, people often asked whether to get 128GB and use an "expansion drive", or get a 256GB model in the first place. The answer is usually the latter.

The i5 SP7 battery life is terrible. Wife is using my old i5 SP3 and it lasts much longer.

Lot of us keep files on our computer that are rarely use and those can go into the SD card. Also, they are making high use SD cards for cameras that gets written over every day or every few days. I have standard micro SD car on my cars for 2+ years and still have no issues.
