Not really. Not when an iPad Pro is $100 more and can actually run games

I mean with this you can try your Steam library but good luck
The 11" is minimum $150 more, with a screen area that is about 20% smaller. If you don't need to play demanding games this is a much better deal.

Micro SD card at high speeds work great for this problem.

Well yeah but this is an actual computer, not an over-glorified cell phone.

Depends on what you are doing with it. If you are doing any sort of production work that benefits from Windows only programs the answer is Surface Pro. If you just want to surf the web, read comics, watch movies, etc I would say the Tab S7+ is very hard to beat for the price.

I bought a SP6 a couple years back thinking I'd use it as a tablet as well - never happened. The user experience in tablet mode for SP's just isn't there.

I do appreciate my SP6 is very light but if I could do it over again I would have just gone with a regular ultraportable laptop and bought a dedicated, separate tablet.

I have this and the tab s. I love the tab, but it doesn't replace my surface for office work, documents, email, Excel, word, etc. I absolutely love the tab S for note-taking though.

I suggest getting the SP6 or SP7+. SP7 battery life is pretty terrible.

MicroSD are not SSDs and do not magically solve the problem. They are never meant for persistent, heavy read/write operations. Maybe ok for storing some pictures and videos, but not good enough for heavy editing tasks. External SSDs would be better, especially as they are faster and cheaper now (although they take more space).

In fact this question has been answered long ago. When the base Macbook storage was 128GB, people often asked whether to get 128GB and use an "expansion drive", or get a 256GB model in the first place. The answer is usually the latter.

It depends on what you store on your Surface. I am using one w/ 512 GB and have 312 GB free. I am syncing my work One Drive and my personal Google drive. I use my system for work 9 hrs a day and for home use.

Lot of us keep files on our computer that are rarely use and those can go into the SD card. Also, they are making high use SD cards for cameras that gets written over every day or every few days. I have standard micro SD car on my cars for 2+ years and still have no issues.

I'm actually surprised the price still hold up today. I got this also from bestbuy Jan 2020 for the same price and has been trying to sell it locally but people always lowball it as it doesn't hold resell value as much as Apple stuffs. Surprise to see it's still front page at $599

This config is for student/beginner instead of video editor.
