Here is the verbiage copied and pasted:
"The Product categories listed below are warranted to the original purchaser to be free from defect in materials and workmanship for a Lifetime from the original purchase date in non- industrial use; wear and tear is not covered. Lifetime is defined as the serviceable life of the Product. "Serviceable life of the Product" is defined as the period during which the supply of all components is available."
So that means it's covered as long as the supply of parts for servicing are available, which I would expect to last quite a bit further than the life of manufacturing of the tools. Obviously you could argue that they could just use up their supply to build the last few tools off the line, but they'd be setting themselves up for some serious backlash.
I didn't really find any complaints about HPT's warranty except for one forum post I found where they use a plastic part with damage as they were waiting on replacements. HPT did them right, though. The guy got to keep his tool and they sent him a whole new kit (tool, batteries, and case) in apology for the mishap. For now, I'd say this concern is unfounded.
Edit: To the guys that don't agree, I understand where you're coming from: chances are if these break in 8-10 years, the "lifetime" warranty won't do you much good. Fair point. But in the end, it's a better warranty than all of the competitors and the HPT line is on-par with all the competition. Frankly, I tend to abuse my tools (from HPT, Milwaukee, Dewalt, and Bosch) and maybe I'm lucky, but I still haven't had to deal with a warranty claim. These tools are great and don't let the concept of the warranty stipulations turn you off for some reason.
I can't believe I'm contiplating buying another line of tools bc of how good this deal is.

I switched from DeWalt to metabo and have been happy with all my tools. I have a couple 36v tools and 6 18v tools. 36v batteries work on 18v tools at double the amp hours. Lowes clearanced some Metabo nailers for 75% off a year or so ago which got me started on the line. 18v framing nailer and finish nailer are awesome.
Seems like Metabo is starting to get aggressive with their pricing to make some bigger inroads on market share.
